About Creative Quest

Hello and thank you for joining us! We're Raven and Faranir, and we're embarking on a quest to leave the 9-5 grind behind and instead, pursue a life of fulfilment in creative work that we actually enjoy! This is ground zero, our starting point. Unlike other podcasts, we're not going to tell you how we made millions and which magic tricks will change your life, because we simply haven't done it yet. We're starting from the beginning and using this podcast to document our journey, so you get to come along with us in real-time to see what worked, what didn't work, what we could've done better as we try to make a living across the realms of Twitch, YouTube, Podcasting, Graphic Design, Audio Engineering and Photography. How much can people really make from these avenues? Is it really possible to turn your hobbies and passions into a comfortable, fulfilling living and leave the day job behind? Let's find out!    Creative Quest #22: Did We Smash Our 2024 Goals?

   Episode 22! Happy New Year! We're taking the opportunity to reflect on 2024 - our first full year of pursuing our creative pursuits - to see if we've achieved the goals that we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year. It's definitely been a big year for us, but did we achieve everything we set out to? What comes next? 2025 is going to be a monumental year for us: we've left our full-time jobs behind, we've (almost) finished renovating our new home, which is going to give us the time, space and resource we need to fully commit to our ambitions. In order to do that, we'll be taking a short break from the podcast while we move into our new house, spend time perfecting our new studio space and tech setup and then we'll be back for Season 2 with a fresh new look, a new format, and a new mission! We can't give you all the answers on how to achieve your creative goals, as we haven't done it yet ourselves! We're still finding our feet, starting from the beginning and working our way up. Let us break down what kind of things we cover: - Creating YouTube videos: how we record our streams and create videos from them - editing in Premiere Pro, creating thumbnails, monitoring analytics, etc. - Streaming on Twitch: What kind of gear do you need to get started? How have we improved our streams over time? Monitoring growth through analytics, How to become a Twitch Affiliate and start making money and even better, how to become a Twitch Partner and make even more money! We're still working on that last one... - Building a social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok: comparing results across each platform to see which ones can yield the best results as well as what impact paid advertising has through each one. - Art and design: Raven creates all of our art assets herself; all the logos, title cards, intros, outros, thumbnails, etc. so we often dive into how important this is and what tools are available to help. - Motivation and Encouragement: We often dig into motivational rants and encourage our listeners to pursue their passions in life and to not let anything hold them back. - We also dive into topics such as Photography, Audio Engineering, and general tech talk for platforms like OBS, Canva, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. Making this podcast keeps us on track and holds us to account: it pushes us to keep doing better and improving ourselves and our results, and our hope is that it will also help you in your own creative endeavours.    Creative Quest #21: Our Plan Has Worked So Far - But What Comes Next? Our Biggest Leap of Faith?

   Episode 21! This is a big one for us! Over the last 18 months we've had this dream of cutting out the 9-5 grind in jobs that we have no passion for, and seeking a more fulfilling, creative life instead. We started to hold ourselves accountable to that goal just over a year ago when we started our podcast, journaling that journey. Now, Raven has quit her job and moved into a part time job that's in line with her beliefs and goals, and now I have also quit my job and have just one week left until I leave it for good. This is an absolutely massive moment for us, as it means we're able to take the next steps towards achieving our dreams, but what will that actually look like? What comes next? In this episode, we take a deep look at how we got to this point and what the future will hopefully look like. We'll be upping our game in so many ways, including how we develop the podcast. After all, now that we're achieving our initial goals, it makes sense that the podcast evolves with us! So, take a seat and enjoy. This is a good one!    Creative Quest #20: 1 Year Anniversary Celebration With Our BIGGEST NEWS YET!

   Episode 20! ONE YEAR PODCASTAVERSARY! How has it already been a whole year since we started this?!
