Who Gon’ Check Me, BOO?! Real-Life Hauntings & Real Housewives Drama

It's Halloween, so naturally we're talking creepy clowns, terrifying masks, and all things Bravo. 👻🎃 This week on Crime, Cocktails, & BS, we're kicking things off with a real-life Halloween nightmare: the 1981 Boston Clown Panic. Were creepy clowns actually driving around trying to lure children into vans, or did a wave of rumors and media coverage create a full-blown community panic? Alex takes us back to the bizarre reports that had Boston-area schools and police on high alert. Then Kajsa shares a more recent real-life scare: a man dressed in a Chucky-style mask who allegedly terrorized people near Philadelphia City Hall. Because apparently, some people really do wake up and choose chaos. After our spooky stories, we're diving into Bravo Fan Fest and all the drama, awkward moments, and hot takes. From Heather Gay getting booed over the black eye conversation and Bronwyn serving looks to Chanel Ayan's iconic interviews, Southern Charm's upcoming season, and the latest Real Housewives of Orange County and Salt Lake City drama, we have plenty to discuss. Plus, Whitney Rose's reported Hustler Club offer, Gina's Jeff Lewis burn, and why we think Bravo needs to put a limit on the number of Housewives doing cabaret and DJ sets. And, of course, we're wrapping things up with Halloween-themed Quick Shots, including favorite scream queens, zombie versus alien survival, guilty pleasures, Halloween candy, and more. 🍸 This week's cocktail: The Bluestone Manor Martini: a sweet, creamy Halloween-inspired drink with vanilla vodka, orange liqueur, orange juice, and candy corn. Grab your cocktail, turn on the Halloween decorations, and join us for a little true crime, a lot of Bravo, and plenty of BS. Happy Halloween, everyone! The Swan: Behind the Mirror | The Disturbing Truth About Reality TV, Plastic Surgery & Body Image

What the hell happened on The Swan?! In this episode of Crime, Cocktails, & BS, we dive into Hulu’s documentary The Swan: Behind the Mirror, which revisits Fox’s infamous 2004 reality show where women underwent extreme makeovers, plastic surgery, dental procedures, and intense physical transformations, all while being isolated from their families and kept from seeing their own reflections. We talk about the former contestants who returned to tell their stories, the producers looking back on what happened, and some of the most disturbing revelations from the documentary: contestants being pushed to reveal deeply personal trauma, emotional breakdowns being treated as entertainment, reactions being filmed multiple times until they were “right,” and the shocking lack of control contestants say they had over their own transformations. We also get into the plastic surgery side of the show, the intense recovery process, the lack of adequate aftercare, and how radically the contestants’ bodies, and their perceptions of themselves, were changed. And of course, we have to talk about Dr. Hayworth, the infamous “art book,” and the connection to Bravo’s Terry Dubrow. But the biggest question we tackle is whether reality television has actually changed. The Swan aired in 2004. Today we have beauty influencers, cosmetic procedures on social media, GLP-1s, “heroin chic,” body positivity, and a new generation of women constantly being told what their bodies should look like. So… are we really in a better place? Grab a cocktail and join us for a deep dive into The Swan: Behind the Mirror, the dark side of reality television, plastic surgery, body image, and how much, and how little, has changed in the last 20 years.
