A mother in Oxnard, California, is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of two of her infants more than a decade apart.
The 2026 death led investigators back to the unexplained death of another 25-day-old infant in 2015. But before the criminal case could move toward trial, proceedings were suspended after Marisol Flores was found incompetent to stand trial. Court records now show she was committed to the California Department of State Hospitals for competency-restoration treatment.

Delia Lerma’s case remained unsolved for nearly 19 years before her husband, Lucio Lerma Sr., was indicted in connection with her 2007 murder.
Now, before the case could reach trial, there has been a major development.

Peaches & Baby Doe Identified: How DNA Rewrote the Gilgo Beach Case
For decades, an unidentified woman known as “Peaches” and a young child known as “Baby Doe” were connected to the Gilgo Beach investigation. Advanced DNA testing eventually identified them as Tanya Denise Jackson and her daughter, Tatiana Marie Dykes—and sent investigators in a very different direction.
In this episode, I break down the discoveries, the DNA and forensic genetic genealogy that finally gave Tanya and Tatiana their names, the investigation that followed, and the pending murder charges.
