[…] Of course, Jim Daley's attorney had no way of knowing about any of this before his client was tried in Shelley Boggio's murder. Before records were digitized, this was not easy information to come by. Even now, there's no database showing what informant was used in which cases. I know this from experience reporting on jailhouse informants. For one project, I had to create a database from scratch because no one tracks this stuff. But prosecutors knew about it.
