[…] So the state's theory of the case is this, is that on February 21st, 1992, Gary, his uncle James Dellinger, and Tommy Griffin went out drinking. They went to a bar called Howie's Hideaway in Maryville, Tennessee. They left Howie's. They got in a fight on the side of the road about 10 minutes away, and they left Tommy on the side of the road. They beat him and left him on the side of the road. Tommy gets picked up for public intoxication because he was drunk as cooter brown. Good reference. Yeah. So he ends up in the Blount County Jail. While Tommy's in the jail, his trailer burns down. And then in the state's telling of the case, it was Gary and James that burned Tommy's trailer down. […]
