[…] Amazon's core complaint is that Muse does not identify itself while browsing. It shops on Amazon looking just like a human customer. Amazon also says the agent poses privacy and security risks, including access to and retention of customer information. In a statement, the company argued that third-party apps making purchases on someone's behalf should operate openly and respect a service provider's decision about whether they want to participate in their usage. That's the same way that food delivery apps work with restaurants and travel agencies work with airlines. Meta insists Muse has no visibility into passwords or payment methods and that credentials go into a secure storage that the agent can use without knowing. […]
