Meet the August 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month: Trever Neuroth

🎉 Congratulations to our August 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month: Trever Neuroth! Trever is in-house counsel at Disney, a devoted husband to his wife Sarah, and dad to two boys — Max (10) and Sam (6). His career has taken him from Alaska to D.C. to California, with stops in private practice, the U.S. Postal Service, and a utility company before landing at the “Happiest Place on Earth.” In our conversation, Trever shared thoughtful insights on: * Balancing work and fatherhood — including why “listening first before problem-solving” has made him both a better lawyer and dad. * Breaking stereotypes — challenging the “low bar” for dads and showing up consistently in meaningful ways. * Building connections — prioritizing one-on-one time with each child as they grow and change. * Finding boundaries — from Friday night family movie traditions to carving out space to recharge. Trever’s story is a reminder that whether you’re negotiating with OSHA or wrangling kids on a Friday night, the skills of patience, empathy, and perspective pay off in both roles. ➡️ Watch the full interview here. And if you’re a Lawyer Dad who wants to connect with others who “get it,” join our growing community: DadEsq.mn.co (https://dadesq.mn.co) Let’s give Trever a big round of applause in the comments! 👏👏 #LawyerDadOfTheMonth #DadEsq #WorkingDad #LawyerLife #WorkLifeBalance #Parenting Get full access to Dad, Esq. at dadesq.substack.com/subscribe (https://dadesq.substack.com/subscribe?utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=CTA_4)

Meet the July 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month: Zack Anstett!

"How can my living have as great of an impact as possible on my family?" That question has guided our July 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month, Zack Anstett, through a year and a half that would have brought many to their knees. In this episode, Zack opens up about his journey from mysterious symptoms (dark spots in his vision, difficulty reading) to the life-altering diagnosis of a "sizable mass" on his brain, and the treatment that followed. (Great news: the tumor has now shrunk by 30% and is moving in the right direction.) All while continuing to show up as a father to three young kids—including a newborn just six months ago—and practicing employment law at a big firm. Zack’s story is powerful, raw, and deeply inspiring. He brings you into the hospital room the moment he received his diagnosis. He shares how difficult it was to call his wife in the early hours to deliver the news. And he reflects on how the experience has reshaped the way he approaches both work and fatherhood. Despite everything, Zack’s outlook is full of hope and grounded in purpose. You’ll walk away from this one with more than just admiration—you’ll leave re-centered on what truly matters. And yes, we also had some fun talking about:🥕 My love for Wegmans📚 His favorite book to read to his kids right now: Beneath by Cori Doerrfeld 🎧 Listen to Zack’s story now on the latest episode of the Dad, Esq. podcast. Meet the May 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month: Stephen Gee!

This month, we’re honored to recognize Stephen Gee as our Dad, Esq. Lawyer Dad of the Month. Stephen is not just a skilled attorney—he’s a devoted husband to Rachel and a present, loving father to two incredible sons: Alexander (6) and Benjamin (4 months). Alexander is autistic and sees the world through a different lens—a lens filled with curiosity, sensitivity, and vibrant insight. He shines brightly, reminding everyone around him that different isn’t less. It’s just…different. And often, beautifully so. Stephen embraces Alexander’s perspective with patience, purpose, and pride. He shows up not only as a provider, but as a protector, teacher, and advocate. In the courtroom, he stands up for his clients. At home, he stands by his son—navigating challenges, celebrating milestones, and helping his family thrive. His example is a powerful reminder that being a great dad isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being fully present, open-hearted, and willing to grow alongside your children. We’re proud to highlight Stephen this month and grateful for Lawyer Dads like him who embody strength, humility, and love. Meet the April 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month: Evan Miller!

Evan’s journey as a Lawyer Dad has taken him across the world—literally. He grew up in Idaho, where his dad was (believe it or not) a potato doctor. College took him to Utah, where he met his wife, Jessica, before spending two years on a mission in Russia. After law school at Mizzou, they packed up for Hawaii, where Evan currently clerks for the bankruptcy court while raising two little boys, Jansen (3) and Kallan (1).But Evan’s story is far from settling down. This summer, he and his family will make another big move—to Delaware for a new clerkship (and maybe baby #3?). And somehow, in the midst of fatherhood, career moves, and cross-country relocations, he’s also training for two marathons.Evan has been part of Dad, Esq. (http://dadesq.mn.co) since the beginning, helping shape our vision and community as a key member of the Advisory Board. He represents everything this group stands for—commitment to family, professional excellence, and pushing personal limits. This month, we celebrate Evan—not just for what he does, but for the way he leads by example. Let’s give it up for him! 👏Join us in Dad, Esq. at http://dadesq.mn.co! Meet the March 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month: Alex Desrosiers

🎉 Congratulations to my good friend and law partner, Alex Desrosiers, our March 2025 Lawyer Dad of the Month! 👏 Dad, Esq.’s theme for March is Career Growth & Leadership and there was no better choice for LDOTM than Alex. He was recently elected to the partnership of our firm, while at the same time becoming a new dad to his daughter Lilly. Check out our discussion, which touched on everything from misconceptions about the “stuffiness” of law practice, to Alex’s slow dance playlist for his daughter, to dealing with the challenges of a high-stress job while suffering from Crohn’s Disease (something Alex and I have in common). Beyond his impressive legal career and family life, Alex is an active advocate for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (https://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org) (CCF), currently serving as the President of the Central & Northeastern Florida Chapter (https://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org/chapters/centralflorida/contacts). CCF has played a role in every major breakthrough in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Alex is participating in Take Steps again this year on April 26. Take Steps is a fundraiser for CCF to raise money for further IBD research. You can support Alex and the mission of CCF by donating here (https://takesteps.crohnscolitisfoundation.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.participant&participantID=61023). Let’s give it up for Alex in the comments! ⬇️ 💬 What’s one lesson you’ve learned about balancing career growth with parenting? 🎙️Check out the video of my full interview with Alex on Substack or YouTube, or follow @dad_esquire on Apple Podcasts and Spotify to listen during your commute or while you’re at the gym!
