I did not invent these models. The Shiller P/E ratio, also known as the CAPE ratio (Cyclically Adjusted Price-to-Earnings), was developed by Professor Robert J. Shiller, a Nobel Prize-winning economist. The Altman Z-score was created by Dr. Edward I. Altman, a financial economist and professor at New York University, as a formula to predict the probability of corporate bankruptcy. These ratios are publicly known academic and financial tools, and all credit for their development belongs to their original authors. My discussion of them is for educational and analytical purposes only. ( I originally recorded this episode a couple months back so some of the financial information mentioned is from Q3 2024 ) .
