About Dangerous Laughter

Dangerous Laughter with A.J. Rice is political satire with a spine. Hosted by bestselling author, political humorist, satirist, and PUBLIUS PR Founder A.J. Rice, this show laughs where the 'cancel culture' police told you not to. From media hypocrisy and censorship to woke absurdity, cultural insanity, and power-drunk elites, every episode punches up at the people trying to control what America can say, think, and laugh at. It’s sharp, fearless, funny, and built on one code: comedy must tell the truth. Dangerous Laughter isn’t just comedy — it’s humor with a code.

MIND VIRUSES: How Fear, Propaganda & Groupthink Hijack Society | John Leake & A.J. Rice

Mind Viruses, Mass Psychology & the Battle for Your Attention | John Leake What happens when an idea spreads through a society faster than people can stop and question it? New York Times bestselling author John Leake joins A.J. Rice on Dangerous Laughter for an in-depth conversation about his book, Mind Viruses: America’s Irrational Obsessions, and the psychology behind mass fear, groupthink, propaganda, social contagion, conformity, and institutional authority. Leake draws on thinkers including Carl Jung, René Girard, H.L. Mencken, Thomas Sowell, and Roger Scruton to examine the ways individuals and groups respond to fear, social pressure, tribal identity, and powerful institutions. Central to the conversation is Jung’s concept of a “psychic epidemic,” which Leake uses as a framework for understanding moments when large groups become intensely focused on particular fears, beliefs, or social narratives. Topics include: • John Leake• Mind Viruses• Carl Jung• Psychic epidemics• Mass psychology• Groupthink• Social conformity• Tribal behavior• Fear and scapegoating• Propaganda• Institutional authority• The “expert class”• Media influence• Social pressure• COVID-19 controversies• Debate over transgender medicine for minors• X• TikTok• Reddit• Social-media algorithms• Attention economy• René Girard• H.L. Mencken• Thomas Sowell• Roger Scruton• Free speech• Political satire• Humor and ridicule A.J. and John examine why intelligent people can sometimes adopt beliefs primarily because those beliefs are reinforced by institutions, peers, media, or social incentives. They also discuss how modern social platforms accelerate the spread of ideas by rewarding emotionally powerful content. Fear travels quickly. Outrage travels quickly. Certainty travels quickly. Nuance usually has to take the stairs. THE BIGGER QUESTION What happens when attention itself becomes the battlefield? If governments, corporations, media organizations, activists, universities, and technology platforms are all competing for attention, understanding how fear and social reinforcement work may be increasingly important. And because this is Dangerous Laughter, the conversation eventually arrives at a very different weapon: Ridicule. Humor can weaken the aura of inevitability surrounding an idea, institution, or political slogan by making people willing to look at it differently. So can comedy interrupt a psychological contagion before conformity takes over? Subscribe to Dangerous Laughter with A.J. Rice for conversations about psychology, politics, culture, media, free speech, history, comedy, and the ideas reshaping American life. JOHN LEAKE Mind Viruses: America’s Irrational Obsessions

EMERALD ROBINSON UNFILTERED: Election Trust, AI, Censorship & the GOP’s 2028 Debate | AJ RICE

Emerald Robinson, host of The Absolute Truth and publisher of The Right Way, joins A.J. Rice on Dangerous Laughter for an in-depth conversation about election technology, artificial intelligence, censorship, the Supreme Court, independent media and the future direction of Republican politics. Robinson discusses the continuing debate over public confidence in American elections, including voting machines, mail-in ballots and election technology. The conversation then turns to artificial intelligence and the massive data centers being built to support it. Could energy use, data-center construction, regulation and competition with China turn AI into a political issue that cuts across traditional party lines? Topics include: • Election trust• Voting technology• Voting machines• Mail-in ballots• Artificial intelligence• AI data centers• Energy and computing infrastructure• AI regulation• China and technology competition• Big Tech• Censorship• Emerald Robinson’s White House reporting• Her 2021 Twitter suspension• DARPA• COVID-era media controversies• The Supreme Court• The Federalist Society• Republican-appointed justices• J.D. Vance• Marco Rubio• Republican presidential politics• Populism• Foreign policy• Conservative media• Never Trump conservatism• Rumble• Substack• Podcasts• Independent journalism• Political influencers Robinson also revisits her earlier writing criticizing the Never Trump wing of conservative media and discusses how Donald Trump’s rise coincided with a much larger disruption of traditional political-media gatekeepers. Podcasts, Substack, Rumble and independent creators now allow political figures and commentators to reach audiences without relying on cable television or legacy publications. But that creates another question: THE BIGGER QUESTION What happens when the alternative media becomes powerful enough to create gatekeepers of its own? A.J. and Robinson discuss paid influencers, authenticity, ideological disagreement and whether political movements can remain intellectually healthy when dissent inside the movement is treated as betrayal. They also discuss possible future Republican leadership, including J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio, without assuming that any candidate or faction will control the party’s next presidential contest. China, Communism & the Cold War That Never Ended | Dr. Bradley A. Thayer with A.J. Rice

What if America celebrated winning the Cold War before the ideological conflict was actually over? Dr. Bradley A. Thayer joins A.J. Rice on Dangerous Laughter for a wide-ranging discussion about China, communism, the Chinese Communist Party, cultural Marxism, American identity, individual liberty, political ideology, censorship, comedy, and the continuing influence of collectivist ideas in American culture. The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991—but Thayer argues that communist ideology did not disappear with it. Drawing from his book, America’s Hundred Years’ War: How to Win Against Communism, Dr. Thayer explains why he believes the larger ideological struggle continued beyond the Cold War and why understanding modern China requires examining not only Beijing and Xi Jinping, but also the institutions that shape culture, education, media, politics, and public opinion. A.J. Rice brings the questions, skepticism, political commentary—and, naturally, the perfectly timed derision. IN THIS EPISODE: THE COLD WAR THAT NEVER ENDEDWhy Dr. Thayer distinguishes between defeating the Soviet Union and defeating communist ideology. CHINA, XI JINPING & THE CCPHow communist ideology, centralized political power, and the Chinese Communist Party intersect in modern China. WHO CONTROLS THE “IDEAS INDUSTRY”?Thayer discusses the influence of universities, schools, media, entertainment, museums, and other cultural institutions on the ideas Americans encounter. CULTURAL MARXISM & COLLECTIVISMA discussion of Marxist thought, collectivist politics, political movements, and the continuing appeal of promises built around economic and social equality. MAMDANI, THE DSA & MODERN POLITICAL RHETORICA.J. Rice and Dr. Thayer examine contemporary political rhetoric and respond to a Bill Maher clip about socialism, capitalism, and American politics. WHY AUTHORITARIAN REGIMES FEAR COMEDYFrom underground jokes to political censorship, the conversation explores why satire and humor have historically created problems for governments that demand ideological conformity. AMERICAN IDENTITY & INDIVIDUAL LIBERTYWhy Thayer argues that individual rights, liberty, and a distinctly American political identity are central to countering collectivist ideology. And stay for one of the episode’s most interesting questions: Why can governments powerful enough to build enormous statues, command massive militaries, and stage elaborate political spectacles still feel threatened by one person telling a joke? Can an ideology lose its country without losing the argument? Join the conversation in the comments. Subscribe to Dangerous Laughter with A.J.
