Hello everyone!, my name is Daniella Sekar Prameswardhani / 1E (403). Here I will bring news about "Indonesia, Denmark sign agreements boosting green economy" Denmark and Indonesia signed on Monday (Nov 22) a pair of agreements that aim to boost the large Asian nation's green and sustainable development goals. Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod met with Indonesian officials in the capital of Jakarta to discuss fighting climate change as well as building economic and security cooperation. “We want the world to become more green and more sustainable," Kofod told reporters. "We are launching a new energy platform that doubles our effort in fighting against climate change and promotes renewable energy in the electricity mix,” he added. The agreements incorporate United Nations sustainable development goals, and focus on expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, waste management, food and agriculture, as well as building a circular economy, according to Kofod and Marsudi. “Sustainable growth is no longer an option. It is a must. Therefore, I am very happy to see our longstanding cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emission,” Marsudi said. Kofod’s visit to Indonesia is his first official visit. Among the Nordic countries, Denmark is the second largest trade, investment and tourism partner for Indonesia, which is Southeast Asia's most populous nation.

"Jokowi attributes Kalimantan flooding to rainwater catchment damage" Jakarta (ANTARA) - The flooding in Kalimantan was caused by damage in the rainwater catchment areas, for which repairs were necessitated, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated. "Yes, it is owing to the damage to the catchment areas. The rainwater catchment areas have been around for decades, so that is what we have to stop," the president remarked after inaugurating the Serang-Panimbang Section 1 Toll Road in Banten Province, Tuesday. Jokowi noted that Kapuas River in West Kalimantan was overflowing owing to the damaged rainwater catchment areas, for which the government would focus on conducting repairs. "This is because the main problem is there," he pointed out. Starting next year, the government will conduct restorative work on the damaged catchment areas. "There will be nurseries. Later, reforestation will be conducted in the upstream and rainwater catchment areas. We will repair the catchment areas," Jokowi, who holds a forestry degree from the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM), stated. Apart from damage in the catchment areas, another factor causing flooding was extreme rainfall over Kalimantan or Borneo Island, he remarked. Over the last three weeks, flash floods had hit Sintang District, West Kalimantan Province, as Kapuas River had overflowed its banks. Some 969 thousand hectares of watersheds in West Kalimantan were damaged and in a critical condition. Major damage was found in the river basin areas of Kapuas, which is the largest river in the country. Some parts of Kalimantan Island, home to the country's tropical rainforests, had experienced major flooding over the last few years, especially in the South, West and East Kalimantan provinces.

"Indonesia reports least daily COVID-19 cases in over a year" Indonesia on Monday reported 1,932 new daily coronavirus infections, the lowest since August 2020, data from country's COVID-19 task force showed, with deaths at 166. Late last week, Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said the addition of confirmed cases of COVID-19 had dropped by 94.5 percent since a peak in mid-July. "We are happy today that the reproduction rate is below 1... It is the lowest during the pandemic and is indicating the pandemic is under control," Luhut told a news conference. Other positive signs included the national hospital bed occupancy rate falling below 15 percent, while the positivity rate, or the proportion of people tested who are positive, was at less than 5 percent, he said. Luhut said Indonesia may allow foreign tourists to start returning to the popular resort island of Bali and other parts of the country by October. On Thursday, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that the government would roll out a number of steps in the coming months to boost the country's defense against COVID-19, including by proposing a ban on year-end holiday travel and the implementation of a booster-shot vaccination policy later this year.

"Data security concerns after leak of Indonesian President Jokowi's COVID-19 vaccine certificate" JAKARTA: Indonesians expressed concerns over the security of their personal medical data on Saturday (Sep 4) after President Joko Widodo's COVID-19 vaccine certificate was leaked and a large test app also appeared compromised. Indonesia has a weak cyber security record, with poor online literacy and frequent leaks previously. Widodo's vaccine certificate - which circulated online, showing his censored ID number and vaccination times - was leaked by users who found his data on official vaccine-monitoring app PeduliLindungi, the government said. "Certain people have accessed the vaccine certificate of Mr Joko Widodo by using a vaccine check feature available in PeduliLindungi," an official statement said on Friday. Jakarta-based Ageng Wibowo, 39, said that the leak made him nervous and called for tougher cyber security laws. However, Communication and Information Ministry officials deflected blame and said that Widodo's data was accessed via the General Commission of Elections website. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that authorities have blocked access to public officials' data following the breach. Officials added that they were working to improve PeduliLindungi users' data security. The leak comes only days after researchers of encryption provider vpnMentor revealed that the data of 1.3 million users of a government test-and-trace app had been compromised. The information leaked included users' data and COVID-19 test results, the researchers said. "Data breaches happen more frequently in Indonesia because of the very high digital penetration in Indonesia which unfortunately is not followed by proper digital awareness from those who are managing the data," said cyber-security analyst Alfons Tanujaya in Jakarta. People also expressed their anger online, with one user tweeting: "How many more big cases do we need to show that the IT and data management in our country is a failure?" In May, the data of more than 200 million participants of the National Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) was allegedly leaked by hackers.
