The largest manhunt in Wyoming history has begun.
After escaping the Park County Jail in March 1939, Earl Durand leaves two peace officers dead and disappears into the rugged mountains of northwestern Wyoming.
What follows is unlike anything the American West had ever witnessed.
Sheriffs.
Deputies.
Federal agents.
Bloodhounds.
Airplanes.
National Guardsmen.
Artillery.
Even aerial bombing plans.

Earl Durand Part 1 | The Last Mountain Man?
Season Two of Rocky Mountain Reckoning: Hunted & Cornered begins with one of the most remarkable stories ever to come out of the American West.
Long before he became known as the "Tarzan of the Tetons," Walter Earl Durand was simply Earl—a farm boy, an extraordinary outdoorsman, and a man many remembered as generous, hardworking, and fiercely independent.
During the hardships of the Great Depression, some saw him as a Wyoming Robin Hood who quietly helped feed struggling families. Others saw him as a habitual poacher who refused to obey the law.
But in March 1939, everything changed.
In Part One, we travel back to the Big Horn Basin to understand the man before the manhunt.
