   Exhibit XV: The Roman Enigma

   Before you step through those doors once more, allow me to offer a word of caution. Not every exhibit in this museum tells us what it was. Some simply refuse. Waiting beneath the glass tonight is an object no larger than the palm of your hand, cast in bronze almost two thousand years ago and buried beneath the earth until chance brought it back into the light. Twelve faces. Twelve perfectly formed pentagons. Hollow within. Strange openings of differing sizes upon each face. It is an object that should have surrendered its purpose to history centuries ago. Instead... It guards its secret still. Archaeologists have uncovered these curious artefacts across the lands once ruled by Rome. They have been weighed, measured and studied by some of history's greatest minds, yet no one can say with certainty why they were made. Were they instruments of science? Symbols of faith? Tools of war? Children's toys? Or has the true answer simply been forgotten by time? Tonight, traveller, I invite you to stand before Exhibit XV and examine one of history's most enduring enigmas.    The museum doors open once more, traveller, and tonight I invite you into a room where time itself refuses to behave. Behind a pane of darkened glass rests an elegant Venetian mirror. Its silver has never tarnished. Its frame bears the weight of centuries, yet its reflection remains as clear as the day it was first crafted. They say it once belonged to a man who should have grown old... but never did. In Exhibit XIV: The Mirror That Never Aged, we step into the glittering courts of eighteenth-century Europe to meet the mysterious Comte de Saint-Germain—a man who appeared before kings, philosophers and aristocrats with impossible knowledge, limitless wealth, and a face that seemed untouched by time. Some believed he had discovered the secret of immortality. Others claimed he was an alchemist, a spy, or simply the greatest fraud Europe had ever known. Yet decades after his reported death, eyewitnesses continued to swear they had met the Count, looking exactly as he always had. Was Saint-Germain a master manipulator who crafted the perfect illusion? Or did he uncover something humanity has searched for throughout history—the ability to escape death itself? Not the slow darkening of an approaching storm, but a sudden unnatural twilight, as if someone had drawn the curtains across the sun. The people inside the church heard a loud rumble, then a cry, then a roar that shook the stone walls to their foundation. A ball of fire, what we might now call ball lightning, descended through the church roof and exploded among the congregation.
