Auf Darwins Spuren
Im November 1859 erschien Darwins epochales Werk THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES. Die darin enthaltene Theorie beschreibt das fundamentale Gesetz, nach welchem durch Selektion und Mutation die Evolution die Vielfalt des Lebens zustande bringt. Darwin hatte zuvor mit seinem Forschungsschiffe "Beagle" die Welt bereist und die Beobachtungen gesammelt, die seiner Theorie zugrundeliegen. Dr. Jürgen Neffe, Autor und Biologe, hat die Route Darwins neu bereist. Er berichtet über Darwins Leistung, aber auch über den Weg Darwins und wie er heute aussieht.

Ein Drittel der Erdoberfläche besteht aus Wüsten. Sie bilden einen extremen Lebensraum für Pflanzen, Tiere und Menschen. Der Diplom-Geograf Michael Martin, der mit seiner Lebensgefährtin auch Filme herstellt und seine Reisen fotografisch festhält, hat mehr als 100 Wüsten durchfahren. Die Wüsten zeigen Grausamkeit, Schönheit und Vielfalt. Es gibt vier voneinander verschiedene Arten von Wüsten auf der Erde, neben den Eiswüsten. Begegnung mit Michael Martin.
