Als im Mai 1929 in der Berliner Masurenallee der Grundstein für ein neues Funkhaus gelegt wurde, hofften viele Bürger der Stadt, dass durch den Rundfunk ein weltweites Kommunikationsnetz geschaffen wird, das endlich Frieden bringt. Doch mit den Nazis kam die Gleichschaltung des neuen Mediums und die Vertreibung der "Weimarer Demokraten". Nach dem Krieg hat die russische Besatzungsmacht das Sagen, später übernimmt der SFB, bis mit dem Fall der Mauer und der Wiedervereinigung ein neues Kapitel Rundfunkgeschichte beginnt. Anhand von faszinierendem Archivmaterial und Interviews mit zahlreichen Zeitzeug*innen erstellt Wolfgang Bauernfeind eine bewegende Chronik des Funkhauses an der Berliner Masurenallee. Vor 90 Jahren: Einweihung Haus des Rundfunks am 22. Januar 1931.

Das Haus des Rundfunks (5/5) - Wege zur Einheit 1989-2009

9. November 1989. Der Sender Freies Berlin berichtet minutiös von den Ereignissen rund um den Mauerfall. Etwa zwei Jahre später wird der SFB Landesrundfunkanstalt für ganz Berlin; vor den Toren der Stadt entsteht der Ostdeutsche Rundfunk Brandenburg. Am 1. Mai 2003 fusionieren beide Sender zum Rundfunk Berlin- Brandenburg, der sein Zuhause in Potsdam und an der Berliner Masurenallee hat.

Das Haus des Rundfunks (3/5) - Die rote Insel 1945-1952

Gleich nach Kriegsende wird aus dem Haus des Rundfunks wieder gesendet. Die russische Besatzungsmacht hat nun das Sagen und kontrolliert den Berliner Rundfunk, der bis 1952 aus der Masurenallee sendet. Im Juni wird das Funkhaus durch britische Soldaten abgeriegelt, in deren Besatzungszone es liegt. Das Haus des Rundfunks ist leer gefegt, „Haus des Schweigens“ wird es jetzt genannt.
