Daughters of the King is a five-day-a-week companion podcast to the Daughters of the King Bible study, walking through the lives of eight women of the Old Testament. Each short episode gives you that day's theme, reads the Scripture aloud, and closes in prayer — just a few minutes you can listen to during your quiet time, on a commute, or while doing the dishes. It's not a replacement for your workbook, just another way to let what you're learning sink in. Written by Alekka Coniaris and Christina Jackson, joined for one week each by Jen Chibucos and Jennifer Boynton — real women, real lives, chasing after the same truth: we are daughters of the King.
We pause to look closer at what Leah was really chasing — and where Scripture tells us to look instead. We read Isaiah 55:1–3 and Matthew 11:28–30, and talk about the difference between striving and resting.

The God Who Sees and Hears
Laban's deception turns Leah's wedding night into heartbreak, and years of being the unloved wife begin. We read Genesis 29:21–35 and watch God notice what Leah's own family never did.

Worth Beyond Comparison
We meet Leah — the overlooked older sister in a story that starts at a well. We read Genesis 29:1–20 and sit with the ache of being constantly measured against someone else, and where our worth is actually meant to come from.

Seen. Heard. Held.
We close out Hagar's week by watching a God who sees, hears, and speaks come through for her one more time in Genesis 21 — a fitting final thread for a week all about being known.

The God Who Sees
Hagar becomes the first person in Scripture to give God a name — El Roi, the God who sees me. We read Genesis 16:13–15 alongside selected verses from Psalm 139 and sit with what it means to be fully known.

A Promise to Hold On To
God sends Hagar back to a hard situation — but not without a promise of her own. We read Genesis 16:9–12 and talk about trusting God to never leave us without what we need.

Found by God
Hagar runs into the wilderness with nothing left to lose — and God meets her there. We read Genesis 16:6–8 and wonder about a similar question He asked Adam and Eve back in week 1. What does it mean to be truly seen?

Taking Matters Into Our Own Hands
Hagar enters Sarah's story after ten years of unanswered promise. We'll sit with what happens when we try to make His promises happen on our own timeline.
27 Sept 2026
God Fulfills His Promise
The promise finally comes true. We read Genesis 21:1–7 and Hebrews 11:11 to watch Sarah's laughter turn from disbelief to joy — and see how her story of faith echoes all the way to Jesus.
26 Sept 2026
God the Waymaker
God shows up in person to remind Sarah — now eighty-nine — that nothing is too hard for Him. We read Genesis 18:1–15 and sit with the moment He hears her laugh to herself, and answers her doubt with truth spoken in love.
25 Sept 2026
God's promises don't depend on us
After ten years, Sarai takes matters into her own hands. We read Genesis 16:1–6 and Genesis 17:1–21, where God renames her Sarah — princess and mother of a nation — the only woman in the Bible to receive a name change from God Himself.

Waiting on the Lord
Years pass and the promise still hasn't come. We read Genesis 13:15–17, 15:1–6, and 15:7–21 to watch God reassure Abram — and Sarai — in the middle of the wait, and talk about what waiting exposes in us.
23 Sept 2026
Hope in God's Faithfulness
We meet Sarah at the start of her story — a woman whose worth, in her culture, was tied to having children, and who waited years without one. We read Genesis 11:29–30 and 12:1–7 to see God call Abram, and Sarai right along with him, into a promise neither of them could yet see fulfilled.

God is Redeeming Your Story!
We close the week by connecting Eve's story to our own — reading Romans 5:9–11, Revelation 2:7, Revelation 22:1–2, and 1 John 1:5–10 to see how the way back to God, and to the tree of life, is open through Jesus.
19 Sept 2026
The Promise of a Savior
Right in the middle of judgment comes a promise. We read Genesis 3:14–24, including the Bible's very first reference to a coming Savior, and see how God covers Adam and Eve's shame Himself.
18 Sept 2026
Shame and God's Pursuing Grace
Adam and Eve hide the moment they realize what they've done — but God comes looking. We read Genesis 3:7–13 and sit with God's question, “Where are you?” as an invitation, not a rejection.
17 Sept 2026
Temptation
Before the fall, life in the garden was free of shame. Today we read the serpent's temptation of Eve in Genesis 3:1–6 and talk about how doubt about God's goodness still shows up the same way today — and what Jesus says about the enemy's real agenda.

In the Beginning
In the Beginning...
We start right at the start — the full creation account in Genesis 1–2. We look at what it means that God called everything "very good," and dig into the Hebrew phrase behind Eve's design as a "helper suitable" for Adam: not an afterthought, but an essential, powerful companion from the very beginning.
