#4≈ Keeping the Holy Spirit on a leash

False preachers, megachurch media powerhouses, lack of true worship, human doctrinal squabbling, content limited to intellectual understanding, no discussion with the Messiah, very limited understanding of spiritual warfare, complete unawareness of what the Holy Spirit offers in daily life and ministry.

As far as I can tell, all of these issues come from a single source. All of these ministers (and many are very popular) show solid evidence that they have not given the Holy Spirit a place in their lives that is meaningful. They might say vaguely that the Holy Spirit enables them to do what they do. But there is no evidence that they are depending on Him moment by moment for anointed words that can pierce through the BS and truly touch people.

The Holy Spirit enables us to talk with Him about what we’re doing

We normally think we are talking to Jesus or the Father, but it is actually the Holy Spirit within us that enables this communication. Personally, I think it is necessary to ask our Messiah to baptize us with the Holy Spirit. But I certainly do not want to reduce things to doctrine or a method. God Almighty in His various manifestations is far too free for those types of limitation. We serve one amazingly complex God.

I regularly find myself talking to the Father, my Messiah, and the Holy Spirit at various times in the same conversations. I consider Yeshua to be my friend in all of this, but all of this includes all of them. I’ve been known to lapse into a chuckle exclaiming, “OK, you guys, I just don’t know what name to use.” So far, they haven’t squashed me like a bug. In fact, I seem to notice some levity coming from the other side of the conversation. I’ll be SO JOYFUL when I finally know as I am known. I imagine I’ll be embarrassed. But just to know what is going on is huge for me.

This is praying without ceasing to me

Hopefully, on good days, this type of sharing goes on all day. I wish it happened more than that. But I know that is coming when the need for faith passes into my personal history. It occurs to me that this is what was going on when Jesus went up into the mountains to pray all night. It’s not possible in the middle of a crowd—for me at least.

I cover the practicalities of all this stuff in my newsletters: Hearing Jesus Now, The Holy Spirit for us, & Practical Spiritual Warfare. They all have a tab on the home page of the website for this substack in your browser. I can’t find them on the app [yet another reason why I don’t use the app].

But, the times that were foretold are upon us

You need to be able to walk in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, as needed, as He distributes them. I covered that in the last podcast. But what I have been told to tell you today is simple.

The Holy Spirit needs to be himself in you

Like Yeshua Messiah, the Holy Spirit is meek, kind, and gentle. He will not go where He is not wanted. He will not beg you to let Him in. You need to ask Him in. Better yet, you need to ask Yeshua Messiah to send Him in.

In the coming days, we will all need Him more than ever before. We need His anointing on everything we do—because the time for fruitful labor on earth is almost over for us. We need to focus on hearing our daily instructions and being obedient to do them.

Get full access to Biblical Reality Advice at biblicalreality.substack.com/subscribe

#3≈ Is the Bride ready?

The Lord has given me a difficult task today. I’ve shared in many places and times that the Lord told me in the 1990s that no one will have it figured out completely before it happens to us. I’m convinced that this is due to a simple fact: it is much more complex than anyone knows.

My faith tells me that my fiancée has shown me some things which I believe to be true—which I am not allowed to share. I’m sure that part of it is that He is not going to share many of the specifics of what is coming. For example, when I ask Him about specific numbers of the various groups during the time from now until Jesus touches down on the Mount of Olives to end the final war that we call Armageddon, all He’ll say is, “Your figures are close but no one will be told the actual figures until after it is over.” That’s not a quote, but just a general sense of what He was telling me.

So, my plan is to clearly label my opinions as I do my best to explain what is coming very soon. You need to decide what you believe with His help.

So. How soon is He coming?

Let’s start with a Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I ask you anoint me to write what will be helpful without straying into error. I ask you touch my readers and listeners to hear accurately and I ask that you help them understand what their position is to be. I put this all in your hands, because I know that only you know fully what is coming. Even you are waiting for the Father to give you the word to come and pick up the Restrainer so the final seven years can begin. Amen.

Yes, the first thing which no one knows for sure is who the Restrainer is.

So, let’s get underway…

Get full access to Biblical Reality Advice at biblicalreality.substack.com/subscribe

#2≈ Finding a Biblical church

This is a commentary about the essay, Finding a Biblical Church.

We are in a real mess in the midst of a toxic snarl of denominations, the American ideal of the rugged individualist, non-Biblical doctrine, and a historic past which is actually the record of how Satan made the church irrelevant.

The end is coming very fast. So, the Lord has asked me to write a practical guide to deal with the cultural realities of America today.

Where did the church start?

In the beginning, most churches were home churches, in large homes. Their services were consciously modeled after a synagogue service. They had Agape meals that were modeled (more or less) after the Seder meals of Pesach (Passover). But they were much more free than anything we have today. They were led by spirit-filled people. The Holy Spirit was strongly present all day, every day.

There is only one description of a church service in the Bible

What then, brethren? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn; and let one interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silence in church and speak to himself and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. If a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged; and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

1 Corinthians 14: 26–33

The synagogue services read scriptures from the Law and the Prophets with a lectionary which had a specified reading from the Torah, and a complementary reading from the Haftarah (the Prophets). As we can see, Paul’s service above was quite a bit looser than that. Paul’s model was more under control of the Holy Spirit through the leadership of the elders. There seems to be a lot of participation of the congregation.

The essay goes on for quite a while and covers a lot of our history. I will add quite a bit to this audio version.

Get full access to Biblical Reality Advice at biblicalreality.substack.com/subscribe
