Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree, planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.

Lord of hosts. God of every army in heaven. And the whole weight of that title lands on two small words: with us. The verse ends in Selah, a pause. Let it be a long one today.

The psalmist picks the most solid things imaginable, the earth and the mountains, and pictures them collapsing into the sea. And still says we will not fear. Bring whatever feels unstable in your life and set it inside this verse.

A Very Present Help | Psalm 46:1 | Breathing and Bible Only Meditation
Very present means close enough to reach. Trouble is assumed in this verse, and so is God, right in the middle of it. Let that nearness be enough for ten quiet minutes.
