Op 15 juni 1467 sterft Filips de Goede. In Brugge waar ‘de Leeuw Van Vlaanderen’ begraven zal worden, is de hele stad in rouw. Maar nog het meest aangedaan, is zijn zoon Karel De Stoute. Charles le Téméraire schreit bittere tranen; Veel tijd om te rouwen heeft hij echter niet: het lot van het Bourgondische rijk ligt immers nu in zijn handen. Zal hij als vierde hertog in de rij de reputatie van zijn voorgangers kunnen waarmaken?
