Deacon Mike here! Greetings in Christ the Lord. I podcast readings from the saints and other things that strike me as inspiration for living in Christ. I hope these episodes help to shape your heart. The pic highlights the notion that I am a martial artist but most of all a disciple of Jesus. Picture courtesy of www.hthaostudio.com.
Saint Ignatius is super practical, clear, and offers a whole series of rules for living a spiritual life. Here is rule 3. For a good intro that can influence your life, try Fr. Gallagher's Discernment of Spirits.

Saint Francis gives us a meditative prayer! If you wanted to do a reasonably accessible reading of a biography of Francis, I do like this one:

Reading Teresa of Avila Mansions DMP 003
St. Teresa of Avila, a doctor of the church, has a lot to say about prayer. She was a very clear teacher and based her ideas about prayer and spirituality upon her own life. Her witness of the way God activates supernatural virtues in us, of the way He seeks to reside within us, is outstanding. A good place to start is The Way of Perfection:

Reading Bishop Turgot on St. Margaret of Scotland DM P 002
St. Margaret of Scotland was granddaughter of St. Stephen of Hungary. The Church has beatified and canonized many royal personages. This excerpt is from Bishop Turgot. The biography is not long:

Reading St. Augustine DMP 001
Off and on, we'll return to St. Augustine. My readings will come from the 2nd edition translation by Frank Sheed, from Hackett Publishing, used with their kind permission.
I highly recommend the Sheed translation. Others don't have the "feel" of Augustine's poetry, in my experience. Of course, YMMV.
A highly recommended source that shows off the Doctor of Grace in his variety as a bishop would be:
