Dead Serious is a true‑crime podcast with a sharp wit and a sarcastic edge, hosted by Ames Marie. Each episode dives into real cases with clarity, respect for victims, and a healthy side‑eye for the chaos surrounding them — the bad decisions, the red flags, the unraveling timelines, and the moments that make you say, “How did we even get here?”
Maternal Instinct tells the story of Taylor Parker, a woman who faked a pregnancy for months, murdered her friend Reagan Simmons‑Hancock, and cut her unborn baby from her womb in an attempt to pass the child off as her own. On October 9, 2020, Reagan — eight months pregnant and just 21 years old — was attacked in her New Boston, Texas home by someone she believed was a friend. Parker fled with the baby, staged a roadside “birth,” and was arrested within hours.
The case is one of the most shocking examples of escalating deception turning into violence, and the documentary examines the lies, the investigation, the trial, and the community left reeling. Parker was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death in 2022.

She Said Intruder, Texas Said Otherwise: Darlie Routier
On June 6, 1996, 5‑year‑old Damon and 6‑year‑old Devon Routier were stabbed to death in their Rowlett, Texas home. Their mother, Darlie Routier, was found injured on the living room couch and claimed an intruder attacked her and the boys. Investigators quickly came to a different conclusion, arguing the crime scene was staged and her wounds were self‑inflicted. What followed was one of the most divisive trials in modern true crime — a conviction built on blood patterns, fibers, and a controversial home video, and decades of appeals that continue to split public opinion. This episode breaks down the crime, the investigation, and the long fight over what really happened in that house on Eagle Drive.

Eight Minutes: The Fatal Encounter of Michael Dale
What was supposed to be a highly specific, highly paid fetish session ended in tragedy — and a criminal case no one involved was remotely prepared for. In this episode of Dead Serious, we break down the fatal encounter between 55‑year‑old Michael Dale and OnlyFans creator Michaela Brashaye Rylaarsdam, a session that went from “consensual fantasy” to “catastrophic reality” in a matter of minutes.
We walk through the planning, the video evidence, the investigation, and the legal fallout — including the plea deal that followed — while unpacking the bigger questions this case raises about consent, safety, and why you probably shouldn’t attempt advanced BDSM techniques if your only training is… vibes.
It’s a tragic story, a preventable one, and a reminder that some fantasies require more than enthusiasm and a roll of plastic wrap.

Influence, Instability, and a Knife: The Clenney-Obumseli Story
The homicide of Christian Obumseli inside a Miami luxury high‑rise became one of the most polarizing cases in recent true‑crime history — fueled by influencer culture, bodycam footage, and a comment section that thinks it’s the Supreme Court. In this episode, Ames Marie breaks down the volatile relationship between Courtney Clenney and Obumseli, the evidence behind the second‑degree murder charge, the courtroom battles, and the media circus that refuses to slow down. A case full of contradictions, chaos, and internet “experts” — leaving us all wondering… like, seriously.
