In 1 Corinthians 12:8–11, Paul identifies a variety of spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit for the building up of Christ's church. Among the most debated of these gifts is prophecy. What exactly was the New Testament gift of prophecy? Was it preaching, a spontaneous impression from the Spirit, a fallible revelation, or the authoritative Word of God? In this sermon, Pastor Robb Brunansky examines the biblical meaning of prophecy by tracing the prophetic ministry from the Old Testament through the Gospels, Acts, and the New Testament epistles. Scripture consistently presents true prophecy as direct revelation from God—authoritative, completely true, and produced by the Holy Spirit rather than the imagination or will of man. This study also considers several prominent views of New Testament prophecy and asks whether the Bible supports the idea that prophecy could contain a mixture of divine revelation and human error. From Moses and the Old Testament prophets to Agabus and the prophets of the early church, the biblical evidence points to continuity: when God truly speaks through a prophet, His Word is trustworthy and true. Understanding the nature of prophecy is essential not only for interpreting the spiritual gifts of 1 Corinthians 12, but also for understanding the sufficiency, authority, and reliability of God's revelation to His people.

26-09-20 Meet Kevin Schwartz
Meet Kevin Schwartz Faith Debate: Sunday, September 20th, 2026 (09/27/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) For 5 straight shows The Faith Debate asked if AI's bringing the End Times? That makes for a total of 7 shows in '26 examining eschatological alarm about technology, wondering if it's from faithful Bible reading or an overreaction. This week shifts gears, but first here's some more about "Artificial Intelligence". Some point to The Book of Revelation's image of the beast, with economic control & widespread surveillance, as a framework thru which to interpret AI's trajectory. Others invoke Daniel ("many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase") as prophetic foreshadowing of the tech explosion. The panel distinguished between legitimate eschatological vigilance and date-setting sensationalism (the church has an embarrassing history of the latter). Postmillenial & Amillennial views frame the answers differently from Dispensational & Premillennial views. Those certain that AI is the mark-of-the-beast are undiscerning, but so too could be those saying AI is just a neutral tool. This episode is part 1 of a 4-part conversation on the subject of spiritual visions/apparitions. Accurately Handling the Word of Truth
This sermon examines the warnings in 2 Timothy 2:14-15 regarding the dangers of unprofitable word wrangling and the necessity of diligent study of Scripture. The teaching highlights that engaging in contentious debates over words leads to the spiritual ruin of hearers, likening the damage to a plow turning over settled soil. In contrast, believers are called to be diligent workmen who accurately handle the word of truth, seeking to be approved by God through examination and conformity to Christ. This diligence is not a fleshly effort but a response to the new life given by the Holy Spirit, who motivates believers to grow in their understanding and relationship with Jesus. The message concludes with a call to focus on the Word as the source of truth and the means by which believers are tested and found genuine.
