One of humanity's GREATEST struggles is our desire to create a God who fits comfortably into OUR expectations. We want a God who operates according to OUR timetable, who answers our prayers according to OUR preferences, and who fulfills our desires according to OUR specifications.
Instead of submitting ourselves to GOD'S will, we often attempt to “customize” or “personalize” God to fit OUR will. So we want blessings when WE ask for them. We want healing when WE desire it. We want doors opened IMMEDIATELY and obstacles removed INSTANTLY.
In essence, we want “A Personalized God" instead of the sovereign God revealed in Scripture…..but the prophet Isaiah REMINDS us just how ridiculously wrong this type of thinking is, that God is not a personalized product, but a divine, sovereign King.
Come fellowship with us this episode as we examine precise how and why both Believers AND non-believers alike wrongfully think that we can customize the Lord in such a way that He becomes “A Personalized God” for our own satisfaction!

"Clear Reception" [Sea 7 | Ep 5]
IT’S A CELEBRATION, y’all! This is Deeper in the Word’s 150th episode! For over six years, the Lord has blessed us with amazing guests and even MORE amazing listeners…and that’s YOU! We cannot thank you enough, friends, for helping us achieve this milestone!
We rejoice in our 150th episode by examining a topic which Jesus thought was rather significant…..so much so, in fact, that one of His most famous parables is associated with it. It’s the Parable of the Sower and the Seed, where Jesus teaches people about what it means to not just HEAR the Gospel, but to RECEIVE it and therefore act upon what you have heard…..because those are two completely different things. Just because someone goes to church every Sunday, hears hundreds of sermons or reads the Bible from cover to cover does NOT mean that they’ve RECEIVED what they’ve heard, particularly if they are not CHANGED by what they’ve heard.
Come fellowship with us on our special 150th episode as we explore what it means to be the “good soil” that the seed of the Word of God falls upon…and how that Word will only change you if you’re open to the “Clear Reception” of it!

"Fits the Description" [Sea 7 | Ep 3]
When we say that someone “fits the description”, it means they match up to the qualities or characteristics of someone, usually as a suspect who has committed a crime. So if the person who committed the crime was dressed a certain way, and you see someone in the area dressed the same way, that person might be detained by the police because they “fit the description” of the suspect.
And this is an appropriate analogy for followers of Christ…because when people are giving a DESCRIPTION of Believers, we want that description to fully embody and MATCH UP to the Christlikeness and righteousness which Jesus Himself demonstrated….that is, we want to “fit the description” of a true Believer in the Lord!
So how do we do that, exactly? Well, the Apostle Peter has given us a pretty clear blueprint to meet the criteria to qualify as AUTHENTIC followers of people who claim Jesus is their Lord and Savior.
Come fellowship with us on the latest episode of “Deeper in the Word” as we examine Scripture to see how an individual “Fits the Description” for eligibility as an AUTHENTIC Believer in both word AND deed!
