Ukraine’s War Data Is Becoming a New Currency of Power
Ukraine’s War Data Is Becoming a New Currency of Power Read the full analysis and subscribe here. Ukraine has accumulated a rare military archive: millions of annotated video frames collected during tens of thousands of combat flights. The material records targets under conditions that cannot easily be reproduced in peacetime (Ministry of Defence of Ukraine). Kyiv is turning parts of that archive into an instrument of cooperation. In March 2026, the government approved a project allowing partners to train artificial intelligence models for unmanned systems without receiving direct access to sensitive military databases (Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine). The initiative could strengthen Ukraine and improve allied military technology. It also raises a harder question: when battlefield experience becomes training data, who owns the capabilities produced from it?

New Steel on Russia's T-80BVM Can't Settle the Drone Survivability Question
New Steel on Russia's T-80BVM Can't Settle the Drone Survivability Question Read the full analysis and subscribe here. A Russian T-80BVM has turned up wrapped in a new hull-side armor package that hides its upper tracks, road wheels, and hull flanks. The panels look like a plausible answer to the FPV drone attack angles described in the imagery, but a photograph cannot confirm why they were added or how they perform. Army Recognition published imagery analysis of the upgrade on August 3, 2026, and that report is the anchor for what we actually know so far.

When Finding the Target Is No Longer the Main Bottleneck
When Finding the Target Is No Longer the Main Bottleneck Read the full analysis and subscribe here. Four years into Russia's war against Ukraine, drones and other unmanned sensors monitor much of the front line and feed data into compressed targeting cycles. On July 29, 2026, the Modern War Institute published From Collection to Decision: Reimagining Tactical Intelligence. The essay offers an analytical framework rather than confirmed Ukrainian or Russian doctrine. Its authors argue that sensor density may be shifting tactical intelligence work from routine collection and reporting toward target validation, curation, and decision support. The challenge is turning abundant sensor data into an actionable assessment before its tactical value expires.
