Introducting Patsy my Service Dog

<p>Having a service dog when you have dementia can be a significant challenge. I started out with meeting with some friends that had a service dog which supported him with his needs related to diabetes..</p><p><br></p><p>Sophie, his service dog could sense when he needed his meds and would bring them to them. They would have them prepackaged up and Sophie would go into the bathroom and bring them to him in a sack.</p><p><br></p><p>Step two was my research related to having a service dog with a neurological disease. Neurological meaning someone who has brain damage caused by some form of dementia.</p><p>Step three was I talked to my doctor about it and he agreed that having a service dog would help me particularly with my attention to the dog and also there was a lot of studies related to the benefits of having a service dog. There are also challenges with having a service dog to glory what happens if you pass away and your caregiver is stuck with taking care of the service dog.</p><p><br></p><p>After lots of discussions my caregiver (m decided that a service dog was a good move for me particularly sense I was having trouble walking and taking the dog for walks could be a great benefit to me.</p><p><br></p><p>This turned out to be very true, the VA was recommending a very heavy will scooter because at the same time I also had Parkinson&#39;s disease and they believe that I couldn&#39;t control the scooter because of my Parkinson&#39;s disease. Today I am back walking with to Patsy only with a cane and enjoying my life with my service dog. This podcast is an introduction. I hope it helps.</p>

With contributions from people snow founder of a positive approach to care (PAC).</p><p>The new book is available on Amazon both in hard and soft copy as well as Kindle and Kindle subscription and over a dozen different languages.</p><p><br></p><p>We have reduced the price to help more people get access to this book and we have worked to increase our target audience with not only caregivers and people potentially with dementia, but also psychiatrist and psychologist doctors and other professionals who deal with people struggling with brain disease.</p>
