Afl. 15: Val Kokhuis: de vergeten commando
Honderden geallieerde soldaten staken in september 1944 in gammele bootjes de Waal over. Decennia lang werd gezegd dat er ook één Nederlander meedeed in dit onderdeel van operatie Market Garden. Maar Peter Visser kwam erachter dat er nog een Nederlander betrokken was; zijn achteroom Val Kokhuis. Om onverklaarbare wijze was zijn deelname tientallen jaren onbenoemd gebleven. Afl. 14: De dieren van Frans Post
In 2012 trof conservator Alexander de Bruin per toeval dierentekeningen van kunstenaar Frans Post aan in het Noord-Hollands Archief. De 34 dierentekeningen waren onderdeel van een groter portfolio met 160 tekeningen van vogels door de kunstenaars Pieter Holsteijn I en II. Het portfolio werd in 1888 geschonken aan het Noord-Hollands Archief, maar de tekeningen van Post werden pas ruim 130 jaar later opgemerkt. https://depotkast.com/aflevering14/

Afl. 13: Speuren naar snippers van een eeuwenoud boek
Een Leidse boekbinder zocht rond het jaar 1600 iets om boekbanden mee te verstevigen. Hij pakte een boek met Latijnse psalmen uit de elfde eeuw, sneed het in reepjes en verstevigde daarmee de banden van verschillende nieuwe boeken. Die boeken verspreiden zich in de eeuwen daarna over allerlei plaatsen in Europa, onder meer Alkmaar en Haarlem. Thijs Porck, universitair hoofddocent middeleeuws Engels in Leiden, speurde in allerlei landen in archieven en bibliotheken naar fragmenten van dat psalmenboek. Want het psalmenboek is niet alleen op zichzelf al bijzonder, maar het zou ook nog eens een koninklijke eigenaar kunnen hebben gehad. Daarbij is het gevonden fragment in het Noord-Hollands Archief ook nog eens het oudste archiefstuk dat in het Haarlems archief wordt bewaard. https://depotkast.com/aflevering13
