An extremely rare self-induced spiritual initiation left me, Zach Tollen, with no category to describe myself. So now I say I'm a Jungian Depth Mystic, and this is my story, and also, the community I'm building around Depth Mysticism.

62: Yearning for a Collective Self: Who Are We Performing For?
We define a new term, 'Collective Self', which is the greater body of people that one serves through any given action. It can change, depending on the action. But the Collective Self includes both oneself, and the person/people you are helping when you help someone. In other words, you are helping both yourself and others in a greater unified concept.

61: A Power Older Than Civilization
We stare the Medusa directly in the face! We seem to get a little bit "Grandiose", But that's the whole point of the Hero's Journey, to inform Society of what's missing.
Does the "God Archetype" play an essential part in helping the Hero determine what is missing from Society? Obviously!
And how old is this Archetype? Before the first stone of Civilization was ever laid, the old shamans experienced it. And it's still accessible—although who has the clarity and calm to see it now?
