The Disobedience of Man — Genesis 3:1-6

In Genesis 3:1-6, we come to the foundational account of humanity's fall into sin. In this sermon, Jeremiah Gabbard examines the disobedience of man and the events that brought sin and separation from God into the human race. This passage reveals three important aspects of man's departure from God: the resistance of God's will, the rejection of God's Word, and the desertion of God's way. The subtle work of the adversary, the devil, is also examined as he introduces doubt, contradicts God's Word, and suggests that God is withholding something good from man. The sermon also considers the pattern of temptation and its appeal to the body, soul, and spirit, contrasting the outward-in approach of temptation with the inward-out work of Christ. Genesis 3 reminds us that man cannot achieve righteousness through his own efforts, but is completely dependent upon the grace of God. This message challenges us to view the Fall from God's perspective and to recognize the seriousness of sin, the authority of God's Word, and man's need for divine grace. Warning! Coven Academy to be Released

Dr. David Brown, Pastor Emeritus of the First Baptist Church in Oak Creek, has a Masters in Theology and a Ph.D in History, specializing in the history of the English Bible. In addition to his study of the English Bible, he's also president of Logos Communications Consortium. For years he has conducted research on witchcraft, the occult, fantasy role playing games and The Dark Side of Halloween. Note this from I Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." Satan is subtle. Scripture refers to him as the "god of this world", as "the prince of the power of the air" as "the father of lies" as a "destroyer", as one who is "the deceiver of the whole world," and yet as one who transforms himself "as an angel of light." With this in mind, this edition of Crosstalk comes as a warning concerning a new series coming out first on Freeform then on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform On Demand. It's called Coven Academy which reportedly "follows three teenage witches and their dangerously charming warlock peers an at elite magic school where power is currency, secrets are lethal, and attraction is a liability." So become informed and hear the background of the characters behind Coven Academy, excerpts from the trailer, why the concepts of good witches/bad witches and white magic/black magic are false, and finally how Scripture clearly shows that this program is promoting the occult. 1 John 5.18-21 - Christians do NOT Sin

This sermon examines the theological tension in 1 John 3:18 regarding the relationship between believers and sin, clarifying that while Christians do not practice habitual sin, they are not immune to individual failures. The message emphasizes that the power of sin is broken in the life of a true believer, who is kept safe by the Son of God against the influence of the devil. It challenges the audience to distinguish between the saved and the unsaved, asserting that there is no middle ground or gray area in one's spiritual standing. The preacher warns against the complacency of those who remain content in the grasp of Satan and urges believers to actively guard against idols, defined as anything that takes precedence over God. The tone is pastoral yet convicting, calling for self-examination and a renewed commitment to deny oneself and serve God exclusively.
