Musings in the Park #2
Here is another raw podcast created on my morning walk. In the midst of rustling leaves and the quiet of the park, I share my musings on what it felt like to go through the massive change of making a 5000-mile move from what I knew to a new culture. There was a big hole created and it was like losing a part of me. Your change might be different as loss has many faces. Loss of a loved one, divorce, a career change you weren’t expecting. Lots of things can leave you missing or mourning what was. But change is what has kept us alive as humans. Dinosaurs didn’t adapt. They died. Humans adapted, showed their resiliance and moved forward. There were lessons learned inside those changes; for me, I am not my stuff. Things come and go. They get broken beyond use. We need to look forward and find something to replace them. Change can either destroy or forge stronger relationships. The stress can be massive, but if you’re facing change with your partner, you can lean on each other and build something totally new, together. We need to turn the page and start building our next chapter. That opens the door to hope and makes you stronger. This is a public episode. Why I Disappeared This Summer
This podcast is a first for me. It’s solo, no guest, just me chatting and sharing with you. My experience, why I disappeared, and what I learned. It’s also my first time recording on my iPhone while I was out for a morning walk. It’s short and quick. I’d love to know if you enjoyed it. Key question: should I do more of these? Should I go back to 100% podcasting with guests, or do a mix? Enjoy, Judi Thanks for listening! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work. This is a public episode. Grief Healing Techniques with Laura Dunworth
When Laura Dunworth shared her journey from grief to healing, what struck me most was her introduction of a very accessible tool: emotional freedom technique, or EFT — aka, tapping. It’s a practice that, shockingly, combines acupressure points with modern psychology, and it’s proven surprisingly effective for processing deep emotions. Grief is energy trapped in our bodies. Laura explained how she turned to yoga, breath work, and mindfulness meditation after losing her brother. But tapping took it a step further — it’s a way to physically move grief out of your system, physically releasing emotional buildup. What I love is how simple it is: you tap on specific points while focusing on the emotion you want to release, like anxiety or heartache. Here’s a snippet of how she described doing it: “Even though I’m feeling anxiety, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.” Then, tapping on points around the head, eyes, nose, and chest, she explained, shifts energy and creates space for healing. It’s flexible, too: you can do one side of your face or both, depending on what feels right. Laura pointed out that this technique is already in use in veterans’ hospitals for PTSD and classrooms for children. It’s a rapid way to acknowledge and let go of stored stress. The more I hear about these tools, the more I realize how much our bodies hold onto. Moving that energy, even temporarily, can bring relief and clarity. Laura’s experience—and her encouragement—makes me want to incorporate tapping into my daily routines, especially when grief or anxiety hits hard.If you’re curious, Laura’s got deeper videos on YouTube for free, and I’ll be sharing those links too. Sometimes the simplest tools can have the biggest impact. Maybe it’s time to tap out some stress and make space for light. From Reactor to Creator: Reignite Your Inner Power with Ly Smith
There are moments in midlife when we realize we’ve been reacting to life more than creating it. In this week’s conversation, I sit down with Ly Smith (pronounced Lee), who shares her powerful journey from depression to renewed purpose — and the mindset shift that changed everything. Ly speaks candidly about the moment she recognized she had lost connection with her own identity, and how intentional self‑talk became the doorway back to joy. Her five‑step Candy Method (Clarity, Affirmation, Necessity, Discipline, You) offers a practical framework for moving from reactive patterns into creative ownership. In this episode, we explore: * How self‑talk shapes identity * The difference between reacting and consciously creating * Why women often lose connection to their own voice * Daily practices that gently rewire false narratives * A simple five‑minute reset you can begin today This is not a conversation about hustle or toxic positivity. It’s about remembering that you are not powerless in your own life. And sometimes the shift begins with one honest thought. A Quiet Invitation If this conversation resonates — if you’ve been feeling mentally stretched, pulled in multiple directions, or quietly stuck between staying and changing — I’ll be teaching a live masterclass on July 26 at 2PM PDT: “Top Expert Reveals Secrets to Reclaiming a Free Day Each Week” It’s designed for women who: * Feel mentally exhausted from carrying unresolved decisions * Are navigating transition or reinvention * Want clarity without pressure or overwhelm If you’d like to learn more or register, you can do so here: 👉 https://jcpwellness.com/millionairefest-regiteration-page-page-817626-9500 (https://jcpwellness.com/millionairefest-regiteration-page-page-817626-9500) This is thoughtful work. Rediscovering Joy After Midlife Challenges
This week our guest, Jen Rigley shares her story. Rediscovering Joy After Midlife Challenges: I used to think that grief and trauma were things I just had to push through — until I realized they were weighing me down like a weighted blanket I didn't even know I was carrying. A couple of years ago, after losing my mom, I hit that emotional kitchen floor. I had to find my way back to happiness, to life again, not necessarily by "getting over" but by learning to breathe through it. What helped? Small, intentional routines — like a simple three-minute daily practice that can genuinely shift your perspective. It involves stillness, gratitude, and setting a mindful intention for the day. This little ritual doesn’t require hours or a packaged meditation; it’s about reconnecting with yourself, piece by piece, day by day. Because maybe that's the point: rediscovering joy isn't about huge changes; it’s about small, steadfast steps. And honestly, it's a challenge worth trying. Worth thinking about. Fitness, Healing & Hope — Abby Smiley-Krause on Building Strength from the Inside Out
When Abby Smiley‑Krause talks about transformation, she doesn’t start with motivation quotes or perfect morning routines. She starts with the night she realized she wasn’t living the life she wanted anymore. After facing a devastating personal loss, Abby tried to quiet the pain the way so many of us do — through food and alcohol. The habits numbed the hurt, until they left her staring at a version of herself she barely recognized. Then one day, her aunt looked at her and simply said, “We’re going to change this.” It wasn’t a grand plan — just two women showing up to the gym every morning. But that single act of accountability became the turning point that reshaped everything. Today, Abby is a fitness competitor, life coach, and walking proof that the smallest daily choices can open the door to an entirely new chapter. She now helps women rebuild confidence, strength, and belief in themselves, one step — one workout — at a time. In this episode, we talk about: • How hitting rock bottom can become the foundation for new beginnings• Why “tiny steps” outlast big plans when you’re rebuilding your life• The role of community, consistency, and self‑talk in lasting change• What it really takes to rise — body, mind, and spirit 💻 Learn more about Abby’s coaching and fitness journey here: https://www.yourfitnesschick.com/ 🎧 Listen now on Substack, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts This conversation reminded me that transformation doesn’t happen in the big, shiney moments— it happens in the quiet ones when we decide to try again.
