About Dissecting Dexter

Podcasting since 2010, this is the world's longest-running Dexter podcast, devoted to the tv series Dexter, delving into the journey of Dexter Morgan, the serial killer hiding in plain sight as a police blood spatter expert in Miami and beyond. With episode commentary and plotline and character analysis, cast interviews, this is a perfect companion to the tv show. Over the years, host Gareth has built up a large following and established connections with the people who make the show, including being invited to represent the fanbase on the official Showtime Dexter New Blood Wrap Up Podcast with Scott Reynolds.  Gareth has interviewed many of the cast and crew and was honoured by having a character named after him in season 1 of Dexter Resurrection, played by David Dastmalchian.  Gareth has visited the set in New York and looks forward to dissecting more Dexter with you as the show continues. […] And I think serial killers represent something that is very distant and can be eliminated. And I think that's why Dexter appeals so much to us is he's of that pathology. We get to kind of be in his head, but we see there's an element of justice, right? I think that's why the fandom gets so upset when Dexter chooses something that doesn't seem consistent with that. But I think we have to remember that Dexter is not a consistent person. He's a psychopath and he's been trained in a particular code. I also don't think he's a straightforward psychopath in the usual sense. A, because he's fiction and B, because he's humanized by Michael Hall and C, because I think it's possible that he could have gone a different route if his origin story hadn't happened. […]
