Welcome to 'Diving Deeper,' I'm Lucas Leibforth, I'm a follower of Christ, husband to Megan, and dad to Mack.
Let's embark on a journey into Christian living. Seeing how we can navigate life's challenges with grace, and build a lifestyle steeped in the goodness of God.
We will discover the joy of community and explore where and how our beliefs intersect with the ever-changing tapestry of culture.
Are you ready to dive deeper?
For a long time, I’ve felt the tension between writing quickly and writing carefully. Between producing content and actually saying something worth sitting with.
Commonplace is my way of slowing that down.
This will be a weekly space for reflections on faith, formation, leadership, fatherhood, culture, and the ordinary moments where God is quietly at work. Just thoughtful writing meant to be read with a cup of coffee and revisited later.
There’s also something practical worth naming: Commonplace will replace my normal blog posts on my website. Instead of scattering thoughts across platforms, everything will live here, in one place.
Historically, a commonplace book was where people collected ideas, quotes, prayers, and observations that shaped how they lived. That’s the spirit behind this space. I want this to be a place with more substance. Words meant to form, not just inform.
The first post drops this Saturday.
If you’ve followed along with my writing, sermons, or podcasts over the years, I’d love for you to join me here.

Stop Uprooting Your Faith (Unless God Says Go)
In this episode of Diving Deeper, Lucas unpacks what it really means to be rooted in Christ. Using the simple but powerful truth — “if you’re rootless, you’re fruitless” — he explores how spiritual growth doesn’t happen when we keep uprooting ourselves every time life gets uncomfortable. Lucas shares personal updates, stories from his own move, and challenges listeners to put down roots that last: in God’s Word, in community, and in mission.
He also gets honest about how division over personal preferences can distract from truth and reminds us what it means to be fishers of men. This is a practical, heartfelt episode for anyone who wants their faith to grow deeper and bear real fruit.

When the End Becomes an Idol
What happens when our obsession with the end times overshadows our call to live faithfully right now?
In this episode of Diving Deeper, Lucas takes a hard look at our cultural moment: the assassination of Charlie Kirk, viral rapture predictions, debates over Israel, annihilationism, and the differing views of the millennium. With scripture, history, and real-world examples, he unpacks how eschatology can become an idol — whether by idolizing the future and neglecting the present, or idolizing the present and forgetting the future.
From Erika Kirk’s public forgiveness at Charlie’s memorial, to the dangers of date-setting and false doctrines, to the beauty of the kingdom that is already here and not yet complete — this episode calls believers back to the center: Jesus.
