When ROH Reveals the Past: Adoption, Stigmatized Conceptions, and Finding Support
What happens when searching for answers about your biological parentage leads to a discovery you never imagined?
John Bedard, a photographer and genealogist from New England, first shared his story with Watershed DNA several years ago. His search began after a personal medical crisis prompted him to look for information about his biological family. Through DNA testing and careful analysis of his results, John eventually learned that his biological parents were closely related to one another, a discovery that can carry not only complicated emotions but also significant social stigma.
In this episode of DNA Clarity and Support, John joins Brianne to talk about what it was like to make that discovery, how his understanding of his origins developed over time, and how he came to a place of acceptance. Arnold first shared about his experience discovering an unknown biological daughter on the Watershed DNA blog many years ago. In episode 3 this season, Arnold joined Brianne to share more of his story.
