Doom 2099 #1 with Stacy from The Fanboy Power Hour
<p>On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Stacy (THE FANBOY POWER HOUR PODCAST) wake up in the far off future and instead of figuring out how to survive they decide to talk about 1993's DOOM 2099 #1.</p> <p>You'd be hard-pressed to find a better pitchman for DOOM 2009 than Stacy, whereas Matt is still upset at the series because he feels like it called him an idiot at a young age.</p> <p>So while Matt spends most of this episode trying to heal from that perceived slight, Stacy brings some genuinely insightful thoughts about the sliding scale of good and evil and how in a future world driven by hyper-capitalism it is entirely conceivable that a supervillain despot from the past might very well turn out to be the hero we need.</p> <p>Also, Stacy says Doctor Doom (along with some rando named Shakespeare) owns the copyright on the monologue, while Matt flings himself down a rabbit hole talking about Marvel's short lived Frontier Comics line.</p> <p>And what about Night Man? <p>On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Dave Amiott (host of JUST THE FACTS...AND MORE!: A DRAGNET PODCAST) try to rent a VHS copy of James Cameron's Spider-Man movie while discussing 1995's GREEN GOBLIN #1.</p> <p>Matt's on vacation but he would like you to know that a lot of time in this episode is spent talking about how video stores used to work (a topic near and dear to his heart), and he shares the story of how he discovered he'd never be cool in high school (spoiler alert: it involves a copy of GREEN GOBLIN #1 and a corn boil), while Dave posits that this comic could very well be the LAST "chromium" cover (at least until they became hip and cool again in 2026).</p> <p>Also, is the Phil Urich Green Goblin Marvel's answer to DC's The Creeper? Amazing Spider-Man Annual 1998 with A. Lee Martinez and David Walton
<p>On this episode Matt and special guest co-hosts A. Lee Martinez (author of many books including the upcoming UNBEARABLE) and David Walton (truly a listener favorite guest, even if he's too humble to believe it) run off to join the circus (of crime) but forget to do so because they get so wrapped up talking about 1998's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL.</p> <p>Matt is on vacation so the show notes will not be as detailed as they usually are, but just so you know what to expect when listening to this episode here's a little tease: Matt and Lee might be more aligned with J. Jonah Jameson than they'd ever expected whereas David might actually be Peter Parker (who is actually Spider-Man).</p> <p>Also, to everyone's surprise the Circus of Crime continues to be a major element of this podcast.
