   V/H/S/2

Tape #17 - Halloween 2025 Special: It is fulfilled. Don't Stop Recording returns (sort of)! As another spooky season rolls around, Jacob and Matt reunite to discuss the next instalment in the V/H/S franchise, a sequel that cuts down on one short but amplifies the trademark gore and problematic nudity. Jacob reflects on the childhood trauma conjured by a Satanic birth sequence. Matt sets his storytelling expectations a little too high. Both remain bemused by the impossible feat of transferring these short films onto V/H/S tapes. Strap on your GoPros and brace yourselves for gallons of fake blood and human viscera - it's about time we press play on Don't Stop Recording's latest episode. V/H/S: 10/31/98 (and Tape 56 again)

Halloween Special - Tape #5: We're just here for the party. Let out that fresh sigh of relief for the long-awaited day is finally here: the release of Don't Stop Recording's final V/H/S tape. It also happens to be Halloween. In the spirit of the season, Jacob and Matt sit down one last time (for now) to discuss Radio Silence's playfully timely treat 10/31/98. Jacob steers the conversation back onto blockbuster robot animation. Matt savours the presence of unproblematic male protagonists. Both evaluate their thoughts on the first V/H/S project and - in true anthology film spirit - return to Tape 56 to review whether Adam Wingard's wraparound saved the best for last. Trick or treat? Don't Stop Recording's final Halloween tape has endless goodies in store. V/H/S: The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger

Halloween Special - Tape #4: I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. What could possibly be sicker than a fourth consecutive new episode of Don't Stop Recording in your podcast inboxes? Well, don't get us started on the fifth one tomorrow. On the fourth tape, Jacob and Matt take great admiration in Joe Swanberg's elaborately titled yet formally ambitious desktop thriller. Jacob applauds (and struggles to rationalise) a healthy three-act structure. Matt shares his comprehensive knowledge of that Flux series in Doctor Who. Both deliberate whether this is one of the more toxic online relationships depicted on-screen. Don't hang up the call - the penultimate episode of Don't Stop Recording's Halloween Special is on speed dial. V/H/S: Tuesday the 17th

Halloween Special - Tape #3: I'm scared of getting the fear. It's not often a podcast gets to synchronise a Tuesday-centric film with a Tuesday release. For the third tape of their Halloween Special, Jacob and Matt brave the glitch-infused woodland of Glenn McQuaid's cheekily derivative slasher short. Jacob finally gets to interpret the idea of the camera as a weapon literally. Matt stands up for Transformers One with far greater passion than the subject of the episode. Both strive to find a shred of empathy for any on-screen character. Clear up the static - Don't Stop Recording's own terrible Tuesday has arrived. V/H/S: Second Honeymoon

Halloween Special - Tape #2: Are you afraid of your future? On the second day of the DSR Halloween special, a Second Honeymoon was foretold. Jacob and Matt's analog anthology odyssey (blimey) continues at speed with this brisk journey into Ti West's voyeuristic segment. Spouses searching for a lost spark find themselves at the mercy of an enigmatic stalker - not to mention the grimy Route 66 motel room they've hired. Jacob once again raises the unexpected connection between mumblecore cinema and found-footage horror. Matt admires the unique language between a serial killer and their lover. Both grasp at straws in an attempt to find discussion points. There'll be little time for rest and recuperation - Don't Stop Recording's second Halloween tape is a nightmarish destination. V/H/S: Amateur Night (and Tape 56)

Halloween Special - Tape #1: I like you. Something wicked - and analog - this way comes. This Halloween season, Jacob and Matt are embarking on an ill-advised odyssey through the first instalment of the storied V/H/S franchise, unpacking each and every musty short film within. In the first episode, the pair review the history of the series thus far whilst also reviewing the oft-celebrated debut segment Amateur Night. Jacob and Matt discuss their shared love of anthologies. Matt criticises each tape's slippery relationship with realism. In an act of futility, Jacob tries to expunge the troubling voyeurism from the film's opening minutes. Additionally, the pair attempt to dissect the film's elusive and garish wraparound film. Cover your eyes - Don't Stop Recording's 2024 Halloween miniseries has begun. Blair Witch (2016)

Tape #11: So the Blair Witch. Who is she really? The 25th-anniversary Blair Witch celebrations continue on Don't Stop Recording's season finale. This week, we fast-forward to 2016 and discuss the misguided attempt to reboot the franchise under the helm of seasoned genre filmmaker Adam Wingard. Jacob mourns the loss of fake film The Woods and hypothesises an alternate reality in which it asserted dominance. Matt begrudges the addition of jump scares to the Blair Witch universe. In addition, the pair recap the franchise's activity in other media, and look ahead towards an uncertain future under Blumhouse. Pitch up your tents and set your stopwatches - the final tape from Don't Stop Recording's debut collection is emerging from the shadows. Tape #10: I'm scared to close my eyes. I'm scared to open them. It's finally time to tackle the definitive found footage film in the first part of Don't Stop Recording's season finale: The Blair Witch Project.
