[…] The House bill explicitly stated that athletes are not employees of the institution. This is really important because while, as we think about the revenue hearings, you know, the 50, 60, 80 major conference schools, where student athletes are being given relatively generous NIL deals, there's health and other provisions provided. Most student athletes in this country are doing this not for an NIL deal and not with kind of like the trappings we tend to think about. If they are treated as employees and all of the relevant things in terms of compensation and benefits and insurance and overtime, all those provisions apply, the economic consequences of having athletic teams becomes much more significant, especially at schools that don't have those kind of resources and aren't in it for those reasons.
