Military Marriage: What Spouses Really Sacrifice | Veterans & Military Spouses Speak Out
Why is marriage so different today than it was for our grandparents? And what does military life really do to a relationship?
In this candid roundtable, veterans and a military spouse of 34 years get honest about what happens behind the uniform: constant moves, long separations, careers started over again and again, and raising kids alone while your partner is deployed.
In this episode:
How rank and responsibility take a toll on family life
Three countries in four years with a newborn
Why "thank you for your service" isn't enough for military families
The isolation spouses face overseas and stateside
How one spouse lost her benefits by a matter of months, and what every military spouse should know before a divorce
A listener's situation: discovering a spouse's double life, and where she can turn for help (base legal office, Inspector General, congressional representatives)
Is marriage a contract or a commitment? A different take on marriage in America
Why you should really know someone before you marry them
The conversation closes with a reminder that there are a lot of good people serving, and the families behind them deserve more credit than they get.
This discussion shares personal experiences and opinions and is not legal advice. If you are a military spouse facing divorce or benefit questions, contact your installation's legal assistance office or a qualified attorney.
If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Veterans and military families can press 1.

The Secret to Living Is Giving | Air Force Colonel Dave Razo on Service, Rotary & Peak Performance
What makes a life truly fulfilling? Dr. Angie Eugene sits down with fellow Rotarian Dave Razo, a retired Air Force colonel, former investment fund manager, author of Rich Life, Wealthy Life, and peak performance consultant, for a conversation about purpose, relationships, and service above self.
Dave shares how getting cut from his middle school basketball team shaped his work ethic, how he rode roller coasters to prepare for pilot training, and what 46 years of marriage and a weekly date night have taught him. He also takes us inside a pop-up tent trailer in rural China where a five-person team restored sight through cataract surgery, and to Kosovo, where a Rotary peace project is training the next generation in negotiation and conflict management.
Plus: the Georgia Rotary Student Program’s 80th anniversary, the fight to end polio, and the lesson Dave learned from Tony Robbins: “The secret to living is in the giving.”

From Single Dad to Social Action Leader: Photographer Duane Jones on Service, Voting & Legacy
What does it look like to build a life around serving others? Dr. Angie Eugene sits down with Antoine Duane Jones, an Atlanta photographer with 22 years behind the lens, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. for 27 years, and a former single dad who raised three kids while building his business.
Duane shares how a family of servant leaders in Youngstown, Ohio shaped him. He also talks about why he's campaigning to become Director of Social Action for Phi Beta Sigma in Georgia, and why he believes civic education should be taught "like everyone is five years old." He covers what it felt like to stand at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, how AI is reshaping jobs, why every family needs an emergency plan, and his advice for anyone who wants to start in photography.
He also gets personal about the hardest photos he's ever taken, learning to advocate for himself, and the meaning behind his last name.
