Episode 97: “Stay Spooky, My Fiends..!”

Show notes: It’s fall, finally. I love fall and Halloween, but it's always a busy time of year for me. This 97th episode is the start of Drawing Funny’s 7th season of podcasting. Our first episode-“Calling All Cartoonists“ (http://www.drawingfunny.com/2020/10/14/episode-1-calling-all-cartoonists/) and introductory pilot episode "Is This Thing On?" (http://www.drawingfunny.com/2020/10/14/episode-0-is-this-thing-on-pilot-episode/) were released during the pandemic on October 14, 2020, and we’re closing in on 100 episodes..! In this mid-late October episode of “Drawing Funny (http://www.drawingfunny.com/)” I go over of some of the upcoming scheduled Mid-South Cartoonists Association (http://www.midsouthcartoonists.org/) fall activity, as well as other Halloween and art related events coming up around town and in the midsouth area. I share info on the MSCA (http://www.midsouthcartoonists.org/)‘s upcoming zines and the monthly dinner gatherings at Garibaldi’s Pizza (https://garibaldispizza.com/) (next one is Nov. 3rd), Greg Cravens’ Con Cards game nights, Rogue’s Gallery Memphis (http://www.roguesgallerymemphis.com/) Strikes Back at Abandoned Antiques, Novel Memphis (https://novelmemphis.com/)‘ Junior Drawing Club, Stage & Sketch at The Dixon Gallery and Gardens (https://www.dixon.org/events), Memphis Monster Market (https://www.memphismonstermarket.com/), our MSCA Ave Maria Home visits, Free Little Art Galleries (https://freelittleartgalleries.art/), RRParks CARDS “Halloween Trick Or Treat” Kickstarter campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2020657542/rrparkscards-13th-annual-halloween-trading-cards-event), The Nazca Preservation Project (https://www.facebook.com/nazcapreservation/), Beale Street Monster Club (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554859980515), and the MSCA’s 40th anniversary plans for 2027, plus lots more! If you're in my neck of the woods, be sure to stop by the Hernando Library (https://firstregional.org/) on Commerce St. to see my "Ghostbusters" display in their lobby entrance, and check out the "Hippie F.L.A.G. (https://www.instagram.com/mariannorwoodflag/)" in front of Mrs. Hippie Eats (https://www.mrshippieeats.com/). I've got some free art there along with lots from other local artists. The RRParksCARDS 13th Annual HALLOWEEN Trading Cards Event’s Kickstarter campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2020657542/rrparkscards-13th-annual-halloween-trading-cards-event) ended on Friday, October 9 2026 successfully! I did 9sketchcards for this set, and will have artist returns available for sale soon. I currently have several scare-brushed Monsterpieces (http://www.linworkman.com/paintings/), some “Scared Silly (http://www.linworkman.com/scared-silly/)” acrylic maker paintings that will be on display and for sale at the Memphis Monster Market (https://www.memphismonstermarket.com/) through October 25th, including some new exclusive art pieces. I talk to Lauren Holterman aka "Holtermonster" about the Monster Market (https://www.memphismonstermarket.com/2026) celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year, too! I’ll also be set up again at the 3rd annual Memphis Monster Con (https://sites.google.com/view/memphismonstercon/home) out at the Agricenter International in November. I'm very happy to share a promo spot for The Halloween Podcast (https://www.thehalloweenpodcast.com/). It's Halloween 365 days a year for hosts Lyle and Meghan! You can find them on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, and most other platforms. I hope you all are having a great fall and a happy Halloween- stay spooky, my fiends..!
