Dream House - The Real Story of Jack Ryan

About Dream House - The Real Story of Jack Ryan

The Barbie Dream House was a pink playhouse for kids. But I lived in the real one. Unlike the pink plastic fantasy every girl wanted, Jack Ryan’s real Dream House was a 5 acre Bel Air Castle, hosting 300 parties a year for Hollywood’s A-list. Jack's creative mind worked 24/7 delighting people who knew him. But there’s a darker side to the Dream House. Salacious headlines, lawsuits and a standoff with LAPD SWAT Team, the REAL story of Jack Ryan has not been told until now, by me, his daughter, Ann Ryan. ©2022 Ann Ryan - Dream House - The Real Story of Jack Ryan. S2 Ep.10 Dad, Barbie and Me - An Insider Biography: Inside the Archives with Bradley Justice Yarbrough

In this episode, I’m joined by Barbie Doll Expert  Bradley Justice Yarbrough, who has been a vital support throughout my journey of writing Dad, Barbie and Me - An Insider Biography Instead of just the "finished story," we’re opening up the workspace. We discuss the specific resources, documents, and archival materials I used to document how my father, Jack Ryan, invented Barbie and her world. This is a look at the process of piecing together a legacy and getting the history right before the book's upcoming debut. What we cover in this session: The Research Trail: The specific resources and materials that helped verify the invention of Barbie. The Collaboration: Bradley’s role in helping me navigate the history of the doll. The Book Process: What it takes to move from the archives to the finished pages of Dad, Barbie and Me.
