I’m not the best at holding space for two things to be true. Okay, scratch that, I used to not be great at holding space for two things to be true. Discovering my husband is a sex addict in the midst of learning how to walk again due to a life-altering accident, had me becoming an excellent juggler of realities. But, as they say, the struggle is real. And now, years later, I’m still floundering in the regurgitated messiness of my childhood. Traumas I thought I’d worked through have taken new meaning and form. Walking in tandem with my husband through his first pass at recovery, and my journey anew, is where you, the listener, enters. Join us as we unfold and rebuild...from the ground up.
We focus on exploring the cognitive dissonance of life, marriage, and the human experience through the eyes of recovery. We walk in curiosity and humor. Please come walk along side us and learn, laugh, and cry with us.
Thirteen days ago our real story went public in a new way.
And some people we've known for decades are just now finding out.
This one's unfiltered. Claws out, nerves still raw, recorded less than a week after it happened.
We talk about what it feels like to be watched. Analyzed. Studied for a flinch.
We talk about who gets to ask questions → and who just gets to witness.
No neat conclusion here. Just two people trying to protect something they fought hard to keep.
If you've ever had to decide who's allowed close, this one's yours.

Greece: Midway- What We Actually Kept
We said no more interruptions. We lied.
A month out from Greece, and we needed to stop before going back in. Not to recap — to take inventory. What actually changed. What we've already let slip. What's still working on us whether we want it to or not.
The second half starts next week. This was the exhale first.

A Miracle, Not a Milestone
We interrupt your regularly scheduled Greece content for something we didn't plan, didn't script, and almost didn't do — Travis fumbling the intro, both of us admitting we've never actually listened to our own podcast, and somewhere in the middle of all that, a real conversation about what it means to still be here.
This is a short one. An anniversary episode. What a miracle actually looks like from the inside — not the Instagram version. The triggers and the grief and the gratitude threaded through all of it. An old couple dancing in the street. Forgiving more than once. The daughter who only exists because we stayed.
Travis sends voice messages to people like it's the last time he'll talk to them. I'm still working on believing I'm well-loved. Both of those things are true at the same time.
His parting challenge might change your relationship if you let it. Greece resumes next week. This felt more important.

Greece Part IV: If You Pay Attention, You Won't Get Stuck
We found the audio. We almost didn't — and the re-record we attempted at home was, to put it kindly, a disaster for our marriage. But this? This is the real thing.
Part 4 from Greece is where Gabor Maté talks about hopelessness, the mind as a barrier, and what happens when you actually sit with your pain instead of pushing it away. Travis cries, which is brave. I hold a grudge against a TSA agent, which is something I'm apparently still holding on to.
And by the end, we're both walking away with the same invitation: fall madly in love with yourself. Easier said than done. Worth trying anyway.

Greece Part III: The Shortest Episode with the Biggest Impact
This is the shortest episode we've ever recorded — and somehow the one that hit the hardest.
We weren't expecting it. The session wasn't even led by Gabor. It was a quiet meditation from someone we didn't see coming, and it took both of us somewhere we didn't plan to go.
You'll hear us crying through parts of this. Badly articulating things that meant everything. We left it in, because some things shouldn't be cleaned up before you hear them.
There's a line from earlier in the retreat that's still sitting with both of us — about the difference between feeling hopeless and being hopeless. We'd sit with that one for a minute if we were you.
Short episode. Long impact. Come find out why.

Greece Part II: Grief, Grievance & Everything is About You
We promised you Greece. Here's part two.
This episode covers our first full session with Gabor Maté — four to five hours of material that started with mammals and eagles and somehow ended with both of us staring down the grief we didn't know we were carrying.
We talk about the difference between grief and grievance — and why that distinction might be the most important thing we took home from the entire retreat.
We talk about addiction as a failure to grieve. About people pleasing as a way to avoid grief. About Travis tracing his wounding back further than he ever had before — not to a memory, but to before he had any. About the woman in the room who said she was wasting everyone's time, and what Gabor said back to her. About judgment, and what it always, always points back to.
And then Travis hits a wall. You'll hear it happen. We left it in because that's what real healing looks like sometimes — not a breakthrough, just a body saying enough for today.
One takeaway if you only take one: everything is about you. Not in the way a narcissist would hear it. In the way that sets you free.
Part three is coming. Until then, slow down enough to find the grief you've turned into a grievance.

Greece: Part I: What is blocking love for you?
We promised we'd take you to Greece. Here's episode one.
This is us, late at night, on our second Greek island, recording right after the first session of the One Sanctum retreat with Gabor Maté. The audio isn't perfect — the AC in our room won — but what came out of that first night was.
We talk about what it felt like to walk into a room of 120 people from all over the world and feel, within the first hour, like something in us had already begun to open. About the question Gabor kept returning to — not what is love, not how do you find it, but what is blocking it. How freedom and compassion get stopped at the door, and how most of us are the ones holding it closed without realizing it.
Travis gets emotional in ways that surprised him. Jenn almost raised her hand to speak to Gabor and couldn't get the words out through the tears. And somewhere in the middle of a conversation about scarves and group assignments and Greek dinner at 8:30pm, something real got said about safety, and love, and what it costs to let someone back in after they've broken you.
If you're not familiar with Gabor Maté's work — this is your invitation. And if you are, you already know why we went.
This is part one of a series. Come back next week for episode two.

Permission to Pause: When Everything Feels Urgent
After betrayal, shock, or life-changing news, it can feel like you need to make a massive decision immediately.
Leave.Stay.Burn it all down.Fix it.Run.
In this solo episode, I’m talking about the best advice I received at the very beginning:You do not have to decide anything right now.
We talk about:- allowing yourself time and space- why shock is not clarity- setting boundaries without rushing decisions- the pressure to “do something”- protecting your nervous system during crisis- giving yourself permission to pause- and why healing cannot be rushed
I also share how slowing down protected not only me, but my children, my healing, and ultimately my future.
If you’re in the middle of betrayal, grief, trauma, confusion, or any life transition that has your nervous system screaming for certainty, this episode is for you.
You do not need your five-year plan today. You just need enough space to breathe.

Therapeutic Disclosure, Drip Truth & Betrayal Trauma
In this episode, we’re talking about therapeutic disclosure, drip truth, betrayal trauma, and what happens when the truth finally comes to light inside a relationship.
This conversation is raw, emotional, and deeply personal because we’re revisiting some of the hardest moments of our marriage and recovery journey.
We talk honestly about:- what full disclosure actually is- why “drip truth” can be so damaging- what helped us- what hurt us- support groups and why they mattered so much- rebuilding trust after years of secrets- and why disclosure is not a finish line… it’s a starting line
We also talk about the emotional reality of betrayal trauma, the overwhelming need to know everything, and the difficult balance between honesty and information that can never be unheard.
If you’re in the middle of betrayal, addiction, disclosure, or trying to figure out whether healing is even possible, we hope this episode helps you feel less alone.
And if there’s one thing we hope you take away from this conversation, it’s this:You do not have to decide your entire future today.

Where the Desert Meets the Sea
This one is different. No conversation, no husband, just me reading a deeply personal piece I wrote poolside in Egypt after my first solo trip since my accident.
I was in the Red Sea when my body told me something my mind hadn’t named yet. I’m sharing it here because I think your body might be trying to tell you something too.
This episode includes a journaling prompt and closes with a prayer. The full piece, complete prompt list, and audio version live on Substack: link in show notes.

Why We Keep Starting and Stopping the Things That Matter
We sat down to figure out why we keep not doing this podcast. What happened instead was better.
In this episode we get into urgency versus consistency — why chasing urgency is just hitting yourself against a wall and thinking the wall will move, and what might actually unfold if you showed up instead. We talk about healing your younger self through the people right in front of you — what it looks like to pour love into a childhood memory by washing your toddler's sheets at midnight and meaning it. We get into being triggered by your kids not because of anything they're doing wrong, but because of the age you were when everything went wrong for you. We talk about not knowing how to receive love when your filter for what love looks like is broken. About recovery getting lonelier the higher you climb, and why that's not a sign you're failing. About afformations versus affirmations — why your brain responds to a question completely differently than a statement. And about havening, which we had both forgotten about until we needed it.
We also fight briefly about what to name you. Potties was proposed. Potties was rejected. We're still working on it.
This one started as an exploratory conversation and turned into something real. We think there's something in it for you — whether you're in recovery, in a marriage that's hard right now, or just tired of feeling like you're the only one who doesn't have it together.
You're not. We promise.

The Tool that Saved Our Marriage Part II: How we use it.
Eight years ago, a therapist handed us a tool.
Five questions. Structured. Specific.
Rules about what you could say, how you said it, and what you weren't allowed to respond to until the next day. It felt rigid — because it was built for people who could barely look at each other.
That was us.
This is Part 2 of our Daily Temperature Reading series and it shows you both versions: the original framework we were handed, and what it's become after nearly a decade of actually using it every single night.
Even when we were mad.
Even when we were tired.
Even when one of us was answering in the fewest words legally allowed.
What you're hearing in this episode is real. Recorded late, kids finally quiet, Travis fresh from jiujitsu, Jenn with bug bites and sourdough on her mind. We go through our struggles, our gratitude, what we'd do differently and we close the way we always close.
It's not perfect. It's a Tuesday. But it might show you something about what yours could look like.

The Tool that Saved Our Marriage: Part I
We took a break. Life got heavy. But we’re here because some of you needed us to come back...and honestly, we needed it too.
This episode is about the one thing that pulled us back from the edge: the Daily Temperature Reading. Our therapist introduced it to us as a nightly check-in, and what started as homework became the heartbeat of our marriage.
We walk you through every piece of it: the struggles of the day, the gratitude, the things we’d like to see differently, our hopes, wishes, and dreams, and the prayer we say over each other before we close it out. We also talk about how we’ve made it our own over time.
It's raw and real, as is our way. You may notice some tension: it's marriage. It happens and we work through it. We share what actually worked for two people trying to stay together when everything made it easier to walk away.
Next episode: we do the whole thing live, just us, stumbling down to our podcast studio, to do our nightly check in through our mics before we climb into bed. Come back to see the DTR in action.
