Nearly each week, the band dummydust, improvises and records a new song in 3 hours or less. Using mostly first takes, lead vocalist and lyricist Lori quickly creates a vocal melody while the other members, Donnie and Chris, add additional percussion, guitars, and other tracks until Lori is ready to sing and record her freshly written lyrics. Then, the song gets a rough mix and after that, it comes to you here! Sometimes, these improvisations get worked into songs that dummydust plays live. Genres have included elements of darkwave, punk rock, experimental, goth, 90’s alternative, 80’s pop, post-grunge, desert rock, and more.
We’ll keep ’em coming if you subscribe just once and dance whenever you can!

You Know Me
Lyrics:
What was once made you proud Maybe because it was not allowed You brag of your own infamyAnd wink at the chicanery Everything seems too hardYou have to abbreviateOffer plenty peopleOften point pretty
You were driving down to AlabamaYour family made the journeyA gag about AlabamaYeah you know me
The kids these days don’t feel that way They’ve seen it allThey can have anythingAnd don’t want itThey’re all about operating They don’t want itThey’re all about blocking
Everything seems too hardYou have to abbreviateOffer plenty peopleOften point prettySo they spoke as they went away and the heart within me laughed over how my name and my perfect planning had fooled him

Meme Attack
Lyrics:
Gene Wilder’s smiling
I feel scared
Smiling eyes brightly like
Butterflies
They know my address
It’s autofilled
Defeating me easily
Like they say they will
Minding my own business
Having a snack
Out of the wiring
A meme attack
Nobody considered
How the robots fight back
No real weapon
But a meme attack
44 chuckies stare at me at night
I bought them with my mom’s phone
Lit with inside light
Hacked to death by
Wandering eye
Find myself consumed by flames
This is fine
Minding my own business
Having a snack
Out of the wiring
A meme attack
Nobody considered
How the robots fight back
No real weapon
But a meme attack

A Well-Lit Room
I was never afraid of the dark
Sweating as I was in a well-lit room
Even the shadows were arranged
Strategically
To guarantee
your victory
Swallow up the darkness
a million midnights less
stars are ever blinking
You can blink right back
Swallow up the darkness
a million midnights less
Stars are ever blinking
No one changed their batteries
You have
to believe
Consensus means
Everything
I’m perpetually
starving

Born Yesterday
Lyrics:
Stand up if you’re wearing boots
(It is a group that exists all to itself )
Stand up if you’re wearing shoes
( Also a group that keeps to itself)We can’t stand for both these things
They can’t fit together
What are you even trying to say
My friends and I weren’t born
Yesterday
You may think I’m
Malleable
( It is a group that exists all to itself)
But there are well established
Facts
( Also a group that keeps to itself)
We can’t stand for both these things
They can’t fit together
What are you even trying to say
My friends and I weren’t born
Yesterday

Whale
Lyrics:
Boat oars draw
water for Fish crawl
I’ve got my eye on the
Ocean horizon
I got
Swallowed by a whale
Said to myself
This is the end
Inflatable
On the ocean
Amazing endurance
In plastic
I serve the krill
In for the thrill
Fresh fish
Fresh kill
First I saw
Blue and black
Then I felt
A touch of damp
I’m all in now
Stern and bow
Goodbye sun
I’m so done
Inflatable
On the ocean
Amazing endurance
In plastic
I serve the krill
In for the thrill
Fresh fish
Fresh kill
Was it a whale
Or was it a wormhole
I’m still sitting up
Inside my boat
Still knitting needles
Still rocking my chair
Do I look back
Do I dare

Your Emissary
Lyrics:
My friends
Are black and golden
They pave
The way with pollen
Bring the good news
I’ll bring something too
I’m your emissary
I tell you the stories
Once it gets to going
New ideas start floating
Make the best of right now
Brace ourselves for flooding
Take the path of righteousness
Only twenty years left
