Podcast Overview

"The Clerisy" with Loren Moss comes out of a simple proposition: If we encourage thinking, we will have a more thoughtful society. Peter Bernstein was right when he said "The riskiest moment is when you think you're right," and thus we hope to introduce heterodox thinking to the debate that typically peddles a defective and false "left vs. right" dichotomy. This endeavor comes out of a sense of urgent responsibility: "If those who know why and how neglect to act, those who do not know will act, and the world will continue to flounder."- Alfred Korzybski, 1921

Do Libertarians Want Power... or Just to Party?

The Insane Hidden Greed of FIFA's World Cup

The FIFA World Cup is supposed to be the beautiful game at its finest, but behind the trophies, flags, and celebrations lies a much uglier story. In this video, I dive into FIFA's long history of corruption scandals, bribery allegations, hypocrisy, and the bizarre ways the organization squeezes money out of fans, businesses, and even host nations. I love soccer, but I hate FIFA, and after seeing the evidence, you might understand why.

Watch the video version here: https://youtu.be/sNmMrbThTKg

Sources & Citations

https://www.justice.gov/archives/opa/pr/nine-fifa-officials-and-five-corporate-executives-indicted-racketeering-conspiracy-and

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32897066

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/u-s-prosecutors-move-to-drop-soccer-tv-rights-corruption-case

https://inside.fifa.com/campaigns/football-unites-the-world/news/president-trump-peace-prize-football-unites-the-world

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-18348012

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/nov/18/qatar-bans-beer-from-world-cup-stadiums-fifa-u-turn

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2026/06/04/soccer/world-cup/fifa-water-bottles-world-cup/

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/soccer/article-fifa-trademark-businesses-ban/

https://www.sportsnet.ca/fifa-world-cup/article/pubs-restaurants-careful-to-avoid-world-cup-trademark-trouble/

https://iol.co.za/business-report/economy/2010-06-28-fifa-castigated-for-rights-abuses-involving-vendors/

https://edition.cnn.com/2010/SPORT/football/06/29/world.cup.traders.fifa/index.html

https://www.highsnobiety.com/p/world-cup-beats-advertising/

https://marketing4ecommerce.net/en/levis-logo-during-world-cup/

https://sfstandard.com/2026/06/15/fifa-world-cup-heinz-banned/
What did Trump Win Us In His Iran Deal?

Trump just SURRENDERED to Iran — and called it a win. We won absolutely nothing. Here’s the real scorecard. On his 80th birthday, Donald Trump posted “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” and declared the Trump-Iran War over. But strip away the victory lap and look at what we actually got: the same regime in Tehran, a nuclear program still intact, and the Strait of Hormuz handed to Iran as a brand-new bargaining chip it never had before the war. We bombed for three and a half months to get back to where we started on February 27th. UPDATE: With the deal terms now public, hawks and Democrats alike are screaming that Trump “paid Iran $24 billion.” He didn’t — that’s Iran’s own frozen oil money, not your taxes (credit to Reason’s Matthew Petti for the fact-check). But don’t let the fake number distract you from the real one: sanctions relief, immediate oil sales, and an economic lifeline for the regime — in exchange for reopening a strait Iran only closed because we attacked. We still won absolutely nothing. In this episode of E Pluribus Unum, Loren Moss breaks down how “Obama derangement syndrome” blew up a working nuclear deal, how Bibi Netanyahu played the toddler president like a stepfather pointing a kid’s hand at the target, why Trump capitulated even faster than Comrade Putin in Ukraine, and why even the Israelis aren’t happy with the deal. The Iranian theocracy is every bit as evil as its enemies claim — but the United States gained nothing, exposed its tactics to China and Russia, strained NATO, and stuck you with the bill. I am disgusted by this fiasco. Am I wrong? Tell me in the comments. This is an independent, libertarian-leaning take — no party, no PAC, no foreign money. We cite primary sources.
