Earth Noise cast is a podcast and video stream that uses music as a vessel to travel through time and space hosted by Kelsey Georgesen. We are actively exploring our collective experience by listening to a variety of music and finding a common thread.
In this episode of Earth Noise, we’re going to talk about winter songs. I chose this theme months ago, anticipating myself choosing these songs in the deep cold of winter. To my surprise, I’m recording these in the midwest on a 60 degree December day. Also to my surprise, many of the winter songs that I ended up selecting from these cold weather places in the world were really singing about summer, warmth, and light.

On Flow, Memory, and Grief with Liv the Artist
In this episode you’re going to hear a little bit from Olivia Komahcheet, also known as Liv the Artist. Liv is amazing. And I found Liv online playing these beautiful pieces processing grief and loss and translating these big feelings into some really light and moving passages on the guitar and I knew that I had to hear more about Liv’s experience. And so I'm so grateful for Liv joining me for this episode of Earth noise today.
Liv is Comanche and Otoe and is a nomadic-bred multi instrumentalist and emerging film composer, whose vibrant music blends together elements of alternative neo soul and indie electronic. Liv is endorsed by Keeley Electronics Guitar FX pedal company, and is a Platinum Producer of Timbaland’s “BeatClub” and a 2021 alumni of the Sundance Institute's Composers Lab.

Lookin' For A Soul To Steal
In this first episode of Earth Noise, we explore the ways that music is used in cultural stories, and referenced within songs itself, as a tool for playing with or fending off devil and demon figures. The title of this episode comes from the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." You know, “The devil went down to Georgia, he was lookin' for a soul to steal.” That “soul to steal” is the whole theme of this episode.
