About Earth Song of the Week (Iroquois Social Songs)

Often the starting point for those reclaiming their Onkwehonwe identity starts with interest in Ohwęjagehká: Gaę:nashǫ́:ˀǫh (Earth Songs or Iroquois Social Songs). The sharing of these recordings are hopefully helpful to those wishing to learn. Was originally accomplished through free duplication/distribution of audio cassettes, then CDs, then Mp3s via USB drives. Now using podcasts, sharing websites like 'hearthis.at' and also YouTube. Initial thought was to share maybe 50 or 100 recordings, but as of Oct 2023, have reached 300. Resuming after hiatus in July 2024 to share some recordings. Nyá:węh (thank-you). Over 900 recordings available on sound sharing website 'Heartthis.at' (https://hearthis.at/ohwjagehka-hadegaenage/). Also uploaded some to YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@ohwejagehka) as audio only videos. These recordings are for your listening enjoyment and helping those who want to learn. Under no circumstances are the recordings to be sold or used for any commercial, or unauthorized purposes. Please do not betray the trust of the singers intent to share and preserve our culture. Your help is needed, if you notice someone misusing any Ogweho:weh recording (not just the recordings shared here), please use your voice. Not to shame the individual in public view, but to kindly remind them of a different approach. Please email any feed back.
