229: At The Lord's Feet

In our distracted, worried, and upset world, Jesus offers a surprisingly simple solution: sit at His feet and listen.

When Martha was overwhelmed with preparations and responsibilities, Jesus didn't give her a better organizational system. Instead, He pointed to Mary, who chose to sit at His feet and listen to His word. "Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:42).

We're busy. We wear it like a badge of honor. But how is that actually working for our relationship with God? The most important things in life won't happen by accident—they happen because we choose to prioritize them. Jesus invites you to meet with Him daily, but He won't force you. Will you choose, like Mary, to sit at His feet?

Above all the noise and demands, one thing is needed. Dwell in the house of the Lord, gaze on His beauty, and seek Him (Psalm 27:4).

228: Parents and Children | Wesley Hodgson

At the heart of every godly relationship is loving connection. In our latest message from Ephesians 6:1-4, we explored how the Spirit transforms our most fundamental relationships—between parents and children.

Children are called to both obey AND honor their parents, caring not just about outward actions but inner attitudes. Parents are challenged to avoid exasperating their children, instead nurturing them in the ways of the Lord. The question isn't just "Are they behaving?" but "Are we building loving connection?"

Here's the beautiful truth: discipline isn't just about correcting bad behavior—it's an opportunity to practice the gospel. Through calm responses, honest confession, appropriate consequences, and genuine reconciliation, we point our children to the character of God himself.

Whether you're a parent, child, or somewhere in between, ask yourself: How am I building loving connection in my relationships today?

227:Marriage: Responsibilities or Rights | Matthew Tiegrob

What if marriage isn't about rights, but about responsibilities? In Ephesians 5:21-33, Paul reveals a profound mystery: the marriage relationship mirrors Christ and the church.

Submission isn't weakness—it's a mutual dance where both partners voluntarily arrange themselves for the benefit of the team. Wives bring their full gifts and abilities, trusting their husband's servant leadership. Husbands lead with love, not lordship, actively caring for their wife's spiritual well-being just as Christ does for the church.

Like a waltz where the lead guides through gentle connection rather than force, biblical marriage is a conversation of trust and mutual honor. The secret? "A good lead is a suggestion, not a command." When husbands love sacrificially and wives respond with respect, the dance becomes beautiful.

This mystery points beyond ourselves to Christ, our true groom, who leads us with perfect love. Without Him, none of this works. But with Him, marriages become living reflections of divine love.
