T2 • E29 • Palomitas o Cotufas • Échale pichón <br /><br />Lo primero y más relevante para entender la influencia de Tenerife en Venezuela es saber que la lengua española llegó a Canarias y a América Latina prácticamente al mismo tiempo. Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, El Hierro y La Gomera fueron conquistadas en la primera mitad del siglo XV, y en 1496, la corona de Castilla culminó su conquista sobre el resto de islas, Gran Canaria, Tenerife y La Palma. Es decir, solo cuatro años después de que Cristóbal Colón llegara a América.<br /><br />El español de Canarias y América Latina es muy parecido porque ambas regiones tuvieron procesos de colonización paralelos.<br /><br />Canarias fue el primer gran experimento del español fuera de España y esto influyó mucho en cómo se terminó hablando en América Latina. El español que llegó a Canarias ya tenía ciertas particularidades que lo hacían diferente al que se hablaba en Castilla.<br /><br />La geografía y clima de Canarias, muy distinta a la peninsular española, fomentó la adaptación de un español diferente que luego se transmitió en América.
