Environmental Justice and What it Means to You

Listen to host Amy Dupuis talk to Jeanne Kuntz about environmental justice to wrap up the first season of EcoApartment. Jeanne is a long time advocate for environmental justice and a gifted educator and communicator. Prefer to read? Look out for a blog post on our website (https://ecoapartment.wordpress.com) about environmental justice later this month. Want to learn more? Here are some videos and speakers that Jeanne often references in her sessions about environmental justice. Will Grant Four Levels of Action (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUVOOWVHDMM) Solutions that offer a just and equitable future are already in play. And what happens in the USA has far-reaching influence in the world. Catch this BBC clip featuring remediation in South Los Angeles, Urban Heat Island (https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p090vn53/the-heat-gap-dividing-a-major-us-city?fbclid=IwAR0SnnObxAdNJXQXNu4ZZUmnTg7WEtwIb1OyY1ZGWSonbDr3smoVgLWQohM). Van Jones helps us see that simple solutions (just recycle those water bottles) often fail to see the bigger picture in his TED Talk, The Economic Injustice of Water Bottles. (https://www.ted.com/talks/van_jones_the_economic_injustice_of_plastic?language=en) Environmental justice is only one layer of the issues that must be addressed in order for our planet and our relationships with our fellow human beings to heal. The Compassion Project (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxjuTkWQiE) is showing us one of the ways we can do that.
