The event featured opening remarks from Dr. Jennifer Zelmer (President & CEO, Healthcare Excellence Canada), followed by a panel with Mohit Arora (Patient Advocate and Strategy Lead, Full Culture), Dr. Kate Mulligan (Founding Scientific Director, Canadian Institute for Social Prescribing), and Stephen Samis (President, Samis Health Policy Consulting).
The conversation examined how Canada can move from isolated pilots to reliable, system‑wide adoption of proven innovations in health and social care. Speakers explored person‑centred and equity‑focused models such as non‑drug dementia care, paramedic‑delivered palliative care at home, and social prescribing, highlighting evidence of improved outcomes and strong returns on investment. The panel highlighted key barriers and argued that success depends on collective leadership, patient partnership, and learning systems that align policies, incentives, and cultures around what matters to people and communities, regardless of where they live.
