Privacy is about control —Cindy Cohn from the EFF about her new book
<p>I spoke with <strong>Cindy Cohn</strong>, the legend of the fight for privacy in the United States, on the occasion of her new book: <strong>Privacy’s defender. My thirty-year fight against digital surveillance</strong> (The MIT Press, 2026).</p><p>“Some people think privacy is synonymous with keeping secrets, but I don’t think so. I think it’s about control. (...) It’s about my decision about what to reveal, not a company’s or the government’s. I make my own decisions about that. A big part of what privacy means is that: autonomy and personal control,” Cohn told me.</p><p>We talked about privacy and why it is important today as it was before.
