The Eco-Startups Podcast invites eco-conscious founders with sustainable / regenerative solutions to our planet's greatest challenges. We also dive into the future of impact investment and what investors look for in sustainable / profitable business models.
Today we speak to Portia Hart, Founder of Blue Apple Beach House and Standard Bearer for Regenerative Travel, a community of independently-owned boutique hotels dedicated to creating positive social and environmental impact.
Portia is an entrepreneur and expert in hospitality in emerging markets, specifically Latin America. In a very short space of time, since 2015, she has founded 2 boutique hotels, 3 beach clubs, 2 bars and a not-for-profit foundation in Cartagena, Colombia.
We touch upon the sustainable vs. regenerative travel, hospitality regenerative standards & how we as travellers can be more conscious of our impact.

Entrepreneurship in a Climate Crisis
Today's bonus episode is not related to our first season's topic of Sustainable Travel but covers the important issue of our climate crisis and the role entrepreneurship plays in addressing it.
Sophia Cheng, is the Founder of ‘With Many Roots’, an organisation that will help you find your place in the climate crisis movement. Since 2018, Sophia has re-orientated her life around the climate crisis and rising inequality. She has forged her decade of communications experience into offering workshops, mentoring, blogging, and more, on the biggest issues of our time. She speaks to us about her journey as a climate activist, an entrepreneur and an Eco-Mentor.
This bonus episode is a remix of sorts from a previous conversation I had with Sophia at the beginning of 2021. I felt it was important to include it in our Eco-Startups line up, as it was the catalyst for diving into an official podcast launch!

The Green Stamp: Sustainable Wildlife Travel
As part of our First Series on Sustainable / Regenerative Travel, I speak to Carmen Castricum, Co-Founder of The Green Stamp, an online platform to help travelers book ecological wildlife tours and make sustainable choices in daily life.
Starting a travel platform just before the pandemic is probably not the best timing, but Carmen tells us, how they adapted to the times to still be able to contribute to the wildlife conservation organisations they support.
We touch upon Digital Nomadism and sustainable travel and how we as travelers can be more conscious of our impact and touch upon the importance of technology in conservation.
