Jahrhundert bis in die Gegenwart finden sich mittlerweile in unseren Depots und haben in verschiedenen Ausstellungen ihren Auftritt. Der Solothurner Cuno Amiet (1868 – 1961) porträtiert seine Ehefrau Anna, die zur Entstehungszeit des Bildes Die Hoffnung (1901) schwanger ist. Die Freude der werdenden Eltern wird nach einer glücklich verlaufenden Schwangerschaft durch die Totgeburt zerstört. Amiet erschafft 1902 eine weitere Fassung, lässt aber die erste Version bestehen und erweitert die Allegorie zu einem Triptychon mit Seitenflügeln. Ecoutez! Cuno Amiet, Die Hoffnung, 1901 (F)
Cuno Amiet (1868-1961), originaire de Soleure, réalise le portrait de son épouse Anna, qui est enceinte au moment de la création du tableau Die Hoffnung (L'Espérance) (1901). La joie des futurs parents est anéantie par la mort-né de l'enfant, après une grossesse qui s'était bien déroulée. Amiet réalise une autre version en 1902, mais conserve la première et développe l'allégorie en un triptyque avec des volets latéraux.
