Boundaries Are Not Walls: How to Say Yes and No From Your Whole Self

Want to feel more alive in your body, more connected to yourself, and more supported as you grow? Come dance with me inside the Ecstatic Life Academy. Every week we gather for online ecstatic dance, somatic practices, and real connection with a community of women who are also choosing to live more fully, honestly, and joyfully. Join here -> https://nicoledesireegoff.com/communities/ecstatic-life-academy ----more---- What if boundaries aren't about keeping people out—but about becoming more honest about what you're available for? In this episode of The Ecstatic Life Podcast, I’m talking about how to lovingly hold boundaries without becoming cold, rigid, or emotionally unavailable. We often think boundaries mean saying no, protecting ourselves, or keeping people from crossing a line. But healthy boundaries are really about clarity: knowing what is true for you, what you want, what you don't want, and communicating that truth honestly to the people in your life. I’m exploring the difference between having firm boundaries and building walls, and why both extremes can keep us from authentic connection. We can become so permeable that we constantly say yes when we mean no—or so guarded that we aren't available for love, intimacy, or life itself. I also share a real-life example inspired by a client who found herself unexpectedly reconnecting with family members she had intentionally distanced herself from years ago. What happens when you can be cordial, loving, and forgiving toward someone without actually wanting to reopen an intimate relationship with them? This brings us to one of the most important distinctions in this episode: Forgiveness doesn't require access. You can wish someone well without inviting them back into your inner circle. You can be kind without saying yes. You can be warm without being available. And you can close a door without slamming, locking, and barricading it. I'll also walk you through my Hell Yes / Hell No practice to help you reconnect with your body's own language of desire, boundaries, and discernment—and I'll share a simple three-part framework for communicating a loving boundary. Because ultimately, we're not trying to become better at saying yes or better at saying no. We're learning to recognize the truth of our own yes and no. And from that place of self-trust and sovereignty, real intimacy becomes possible.

The Power of Curiosity — Moving from Judgment & Reactivity into Self-Trust

What if curiosity could be the bridge between reactivity and self-trust? In this month’s Ecstatic Life Q&A, I’m exploring why questioning can feel so difficult—and how we can cultivate a more curious, open, and self-trusting relationship with ourselves and the people we love. For many of us, especially women, we’ve learned to anticipate, manage, fix, and know. Not knowing can feel vulnerable, and questioning can feel threatening. When our nervous systems are activated, we often move toward defensiveness, judgment, blame, fixing, or shutting down rather than genuine inquiry. But curiosity requires space. In this episode, I explore: ✨ Why curiosity can feel unsafe✨ The connection between nervous system regulation and open inquiry✨ Replacing judgment with curiosity✨ Getting curious about ourselves before questioning others✨ Radical responsibility without self-blame✨ Curiosity vs. interrogation in intimate relationships✨ Using Nonviolent Communication to create more vulnerable conversations✨ The courage to loosen our grip on certainty✨ Learning to be okay with “I don’t know”✨ A simple practice for cultivating curiosity in everyday life Because a real question isn't designed to prove you right or someone else wrong. It opens a door. A door to understanding. A door to discovery. A door back into connection with ourselves and each other. And perhaps curiosity is an act of love: I love you enough to want to understand more.I love me enough to want to understand more. 🌿 JOIN ME INSIDE THE ECSTATIC LIFE ACADEMY Want to go deeper into embodiment, nervous system regulation, self-discovery, and ecstatic living? Becoming the Mother Your Soul Came Here to Be: Spirit Babies, Loss & Wild Motherhood with Olivia Roff

Are you a mom craving more calm, connection, and space to come home to yourself? Join me inside the Ecstatic Life Academy, a supportive community for women ready to regulate their nervous systems, reconnect with their bodies, and reclaim themselves beyond motherhood. Come dance, heal, breathe, and remember who you are. Learn more and join us today. In this episode of The Ecstatic Life Podcast, I sit down with Olivia Roff, a mystical guide for the soul and Spirit Baby Channel, for a deeply soulful conversation about motherhood as an initiation into becoming more fully ourselves. Olivia shares the story of her two miscarriages, her unexpected awakening to Spirit Babies, and the profound healing journey that ultimately led her to her soul work. We explore what it means to connect with the souls of babies before conception, how pregnancy loss can be honored as a real experience of birth and postpartum, and the ways our children can become mirrors for the parts of ourselves asking to be healed. We also dive into birth trauma, home birth, intuition, conscious conception, home education, and the process of reclaiming our inner authority as mothers. One of the ideas that stayed with me most deeply was Olivia's perspective that our children can bring us into the darkest places—not to punish us, but to invite us to come home to ourselves. We talk about the stories so many women carry around being "not enough," not being worthy of meeting their own needs, and the ways motherhood can illuminate those stories so we finally have the opportunity to heal them. This is a conversation about wild motherhood, sovereign motherhood, spiritual motherhood—and remembering that becoming the mother we desire to be often begins with becoming more deeply ourselves. If you've ever felt that your children were your greatest teachers, that motherhood was somehow asking you to become someone new, or that there was a deeper calling underneath your experience of motherhood, I think you'll find something here. Come join me in the conversation—and then ask yourself: What are my children reflecting back to me, and where are they guiding me home to my truth? Connect with Olivia: https://linktr.ee/oliviaroff This conversation explores Olivia's spiritual beliefs and personal experiences with Spirit Babies, conception, pregnancy loss, birth, and motherhood. These perspectives are shared as spiritual frameworks and personal experiences, not as medical claims or advice.
